Spurs guys have made less salary than the could of in the open market. Even Parker usually took a bit of a cut to stay. Manu has made a lot of money in his career but his biggest year was "Just" 14mil. He has come off the bench for more than half is career games but of course plays starters minutes. Great teams have that "Havlichek" or "McHale" type greats and Manu is another on the list. Harden could have been that for OKC but wanted to be "the man" and paid like it. Im not going to knock him for it.
Spurs in a way remind me of the "Jeter-Rivera-Posada-Pettit" and if youwill Bernie Yankees who formed a core and stuck with not just with the team but each other. IN basketball, "sticking with each other" for as long as they have really becomes a special type of team. with the Cba as constructed now it will make it harder to accomplish.
Love watching them play and its the closest thing you'll see to the early Knicks of the 70's. Parker has a lot of "Clyde" in him. Not as pretty or as smooth but Clyde was great in the paint and his midrange shot was excellent. Player by player its not a great comparison but the fundamental ball movement and team defense is really a joy to behold.
