He's still a big slab of meat in the middle you have to go around to score on. He takes up space in the paint and while some athletic types may drive into him, most of the time they will need to adjust if he is standing at the rim, jumping ability aside.

I know his defense has cratered from earlier in his career, but his size still factors in enough to matter.

Sure they can. That's what centers do, fat or skinny, fast or slow.

Along these lines, I’ve been fooling around with some statmuse advanced stats lately. If you look at offensively rebounding efficiency, some of the most efficient per minute offensive rebounders last season include Mitch, Drummond, Hartenstein, and Sims. A lot of former Knicks plus current Knick in Drummond. The Knicks have a type for what they want in their backups. Kevon Looney was pretty high up the list, but so were Moussa Cisse and Dylan Cardwell. Both are really interesting young players. Cardwell especially has a lot of qualities Knicks front office loves. But the question is why would these teams let go of these guys ? But still these are the types of players I’m looking out for.

Sucked to lose Divo, but Deuce broke out and then we got Shamet and Alvarado and so now we have 3 pieces for the price of 1. And that gave us great depth in case DDV were to get hurt, which he did in MIN.

Sucks to lose Mitch, but we'll recover again. We got his best years and the truth is he's been getting heavier and slower and his FT's were becoming more and more of an issue. And of course only 108 games played the past 3 years and that's with limiting his minutes. he was down to just 13.9 in the playoffs and we still dominated. His peak was probably manhandling the CAVS in the playoffs 3 years ago.

I'll always remember the dunk on Embiid and the big offensive rebound late in G5.
