We talking up this guy who kind of can't shoot in a league wheare its important.
"he picked ups". Thats nice.
His videos, all high lights.
He was untradable. He was not playing. SAS did him a favor which is nice.
9th pick. Thats not a good place for us.
Sas is doing well the last three years so its ok to wiff on one or two.
I don't know why he picked us, or what what knicks have in store for him.
Comps? I thought the euros can all shoot? He really polish? From the UK, went to high school in USA, has a polish spelling middle name? "Juliusz"! Got to love that!

Good handle, passer, rebounder, he is Josh Hart?
This the guy Pop stroked out over? Sorry, that was bad. He about started two years, a good deal of it at PG. It did not work or it worked great as he was the MVP for the tank?

Hope this kid is the revelation we all hoped he can be. Its a nice opportiunity.

Yep - lots of BIG ? marks but he can defend (no doubt) he can handle some and I think he's +90% in offensive rebounding.

Could be a smaller stature but similar Precious where he impacted some games but I think he is better perimeter defender (which is a big need).

To play devil's advocate, if Sochan cuts into MO's minutes, is that really the worst thing considering MO's RFA status? Maybe it helps us hide MO a bit more while not losing much.

I completely agree. If you told me Mo couldn't play another minute this season but we could lock him up on a Deuce contract, I would happily allow him to ride the bench for the rest of his rookie year. I am fine if Mo goes back to situational for the rest of the year versus continuing to impress talking heads on the national stage 1-2x per week.

My only concern is that the Spurs were willing to just let him go for nothing.

…and what sucks is that this means McCullar will be left off the playoff roster. Big fan and hope the Knicks keep him up for next year.

Weird that 4 first round players (3 lottery picks), from the 2022 Lottery draft were traded, or waived, during this most recent trading deadline.

Yes - was with you at the time he was drafted. Saw him as a Rodman lite type player with more skill handling/passing.

It is a BIG CONCERN that Spurs walk away from a 22 year old former high draft pick. Is it all due to offense? Not sure I buy that.
Did he rebel some post Pop retiring and his role changing? Maybe some of that. Does he have some personality or off-the court issues? Maybe - not sure.

Are we getting another talented young player like Cam Reddish who will just flame out and be out of league in a few years? Hope not.

I really, really wanted this kid -- he just fits exactly where we struggle when we lose (defense/engery/intensity) and I'm really hoping he comes in - makes some solid contributions and somehow he plays for Knicks another 8-10 years (wouldn't that be great).

It's a unique situation, same with Knicks and Obi.

Spurs got a ton of wings. They in playoff hunt with young guys who need minutes. They were not going to resign him or take back salary in a trade deadline deal.

IMHO Spurs did Sochan a solid.

Mo and Sochan play different roles on the team even though they are the same height and may play the same position.

No one is complaining that GTA will take away minutes from Brunson or Deuce. He is a good addition to them too.

Sochan will absolutely eat into Mo's minutes and they do take up the same role, which is the 9th guy in the rotation, "big wing" reserve role.

And Jose will be eating into Deuce's (or Shamet's) minutes when he returns. The minutes have to come from somewhere.

Josh not getting it done? Isn't Bridges still good at it also?
I'd almost think Deuce is cooked for the year as his return has to have a ramp up time before he is able to be loose.
Shamet is wonderful but we need some insurance incase he needs time off. But those bench guys are shooters!
Im not against this at all, just being "That guys who is not talking it into existance". Personally if he can hold his end on offense and bust Cades ass then lets call him Ben Simmons warts and all and hope he gets us quality minutes!

speaking of, is Ben officially washed up yet?

Chris Paul got released. Is suppose he gets another run with a playoff team? I'd have to think he can at leasst be the Ball Boy for the Lakers? He even too big a dick than even Pat Riley? Maybe he goes to a tank team to ensure instability by letting him just go off on himself? Maybe Rockets need him for playoffs?

I don't think this situation is "red flag" with the Spurs, I think the Spurs are such a solid organization that they are doing right by him. Sometimes good players just don't fit with what the coach wants to do. Rather than have an ugly Kuminga situation they are just gonna let him go elsewhere. Drafting a guy like Wemby completely changes everything you did prior to getting a player like that.

We are going to have a completely unstoppable defensive lineup to close out games that turn into offense/defense sub chess matches. We see those quite a bit in the playoffs. Nobody is scoring on Jose - Mikal - OG - Sochan - Mitch.

agreed and thats ok, we gotta win this year. and I really think hiding MO benefits us, he's probably not ready for a big role come playoff time anyway, but he will be next season IMO.

Were tryna win a chip. If MO gives the Knicks a better chance to do so then he should play. Brown will most likely play these guys based on what's needed at the time though. Sochan will get burn as a stopper for Cade, Harden etc. Mo will get burn if better spacing is needed.

Pop did have Sochan start at Point for his development. Wonder if he could work a Point/Forward role within a lineup like that?

Per previous post --- another body to throw at Cunningham, Brown, Mitchell, Franz, Harden...etc.

this is on the money. our path through the playoffs will encounter a lot of big guards, and if we make the finals we're talking SGA or Castle

the loser in this move, unforunately, is Jose. His minutes will be scarcer

I don't see that at all in terms of Jose being impacted unless it's for 1 or 2 late possessions where they want more size.

I can see Clarkson being banished, Mo being impacted and just more time mgmt with likes of Mikal, OG, Mitch, Hart - etc.

when we play Cade, SGA, or Castle, Jose will be a liability. All of those guys know how to use their length and/or heft (e.g., Cade's like 225) to their advantage. Throw some combos of Sochan, Mikal and Hart on them.

crazy that Hart is shooting 3's so much better than KAT and on same volume. Hart has legitimately been very good and consistent from 3.

I suspect he "turned around" Mitch's free throws too.

this gives Brown another wrinkle - something he has shown he is willing to do. he might eat into Hart's minutes too. I love Hart but the truth is sometimes he's just too small eg Siakam

I think Josh issues are is his body feeling fresh and is he focused. When he is locked in on certain games he is a cannon ball flying around -- keep him fresh and I think we get good Josh. Wear him down mentally/physically and we get sloppy, falling asleep off ball, sloppy TO Josh.

Hopefully we use the depth heavily against some of these tanking teams to manage key player minutes for bigger regular season games.

I agree with this but fresh or not he has problems guarding certain 4s. Sochan's extra length can come in handy

Don't agree. Sochan is here for a role. Small ball 5 and wing defender. He will take and relieve OG Mikal Deuce minutes in certain situations.

Mo and Sochan are not fighting each other for rotational minutes.

Says it better than me
