Diawara is off limits, but if they’re willing to do some combo of Dadiet, Yabu, and Shamet then we should think about it. It would give us someone other than Clarkson that can go one on one and get a bucket. That would be key to have in the playoffs.

Got to give to get. NO not taking those guys.

Except of you are the Lakers?

we're not trading MO. Yabu + the WSH is more than enough and probably too much for Bey, not sure i'd do it. But Bey isn't worth what is essentially two late 1sts. So It would probably be Dadiet + a lower 2nd we have.

Great win! This years team is so resilient and clutch. I almost just expect to win if it's close. The Cap usually always comes through as he did hitting that floater and layup in the final minute but Deuce also made some big shots and hit some key FTs. So good to have him back!

Kudos to Diawara! Started off red hot and finished with a career high 18 points hitting 4/4 from three. He clearly has raw talent and passes the eye test. Not sure who he reminds me of but I like his handle and size and clearly he can shoot it.

Good to see Yabu contribute and hit some shots. Kolek hit a key three in the 4th and had some nice passes. Love how he keeps getting better. OG and Zion battled! Felt like an old school match up. Mikal with 10 assists.

Pelicans were killing us in the first half scoring 75 points and we held them to 50 in the second half. Have to figure out the rebounding issues without Hart and Mitch.

He has the tools, but his defense lapses are notable. He is getting experience and learning. It should improve.
Mo is doing great but lets not get to far ahead of ourselves. OK, thats silly, thats what we do.
Hope he can continue. He looks like one of those kids Toronto drafts? Hope he can break thru and keep developing. Age is on his side!
My opinion is Dadiet makes them also. This is part of the process.

Knicks pulled this game out with some good stops. Deuce in for Kolek down the stretch and his clutch shooting did the trick.
Brown is looking smart but Kolek/Deuce with OG, KAT, and Capt Clutch gives you open looks.

The Demon was the difference......OG had a marvelous game! Nola with a healthy Zion is not a bad team. Nobody can stop Zion but OG slowed him down enough. Almost got that clean block to seal it. Refs bailed themselves out with that lame "Contact with left arm". It was nominal.
Zion at this weight is explosive and looking "fierce"!
On defense OG made him look stupid(as called out by Hahn) for not hustling back on Defense.
OG wore his ass out on both ends. Knicks Win!!!

Got to bring the whole Freak Family along also.
The Giannis thing is weird.
For any trade to work we have to move one of KAT or OG plus plus....
Im too attached to either and our yoot to go all in this season.

Man oh man - not in a million years did I think this kid would be knocking down 4 bombs, going end to end and creating off the dribble in the NBA this year. Darius Miles with a brain, an outside touch and great D.

Not sure if anyone else see's this clearly BUT both MO and Kevin are superior defenders to Josh Hart. Well at least the version of Hart we get on most nights when he's not locked in. These 2 kids move their feet and can hold up with length (MO) and strength (Kevin) on the block. They completely negated Bey after he went off on Jalen/others early (which was embarrassing D).

Need to keep re-posting this one.

Kolek/Clarkson/McCullar minutes were huge --- Yabu (even with 3 threes) is trash...can't move his feet, doesn't rebound, contest and throws the ball all over the place.

Panos wrote:You look at the Boxscore and see that Yabu scored some points. But if you watched the game, he lost his minutes. The guy is a negative impact player right now. Abused on defense. Meh rebounder. Bad IQ.

AWFUL.

This game sure did feel like some type of showcase game with the likes of Bey/Looney and Yabu getting large minutes.

Not sure that Jose Alvarado is a Knick target but we should still be looking for a vet PG -- even if it's for security after Kolek and for when we need to rest Jalen. We are now overflowing with wings but outside of more ball handling we need a big/long/rebounder who can defend. Does Looney fit that bill? He sucks on offense but is a GREAT screener, offensive rebounder and positional defender.

Alvardo/Looney as 3rd string depth pieces - we could do worse but probably can do better as well.

Kat was brutal on D - once again. Looked like soft kid on playground with Zion running through him - didn't even try to defend.

BlueKnickers wrote:I'd like to know if anyone had this impression tonight

First off, I'm extremely pleased that Brown is getting minutes for most of the roster. It will pay huge dividends for us now, in the playoffs and in future seasons.

That said, the impression I had was this welcome distribution of minutes has simultaneously disrupted some of our core unit's continuity and they may be adjusting to the heavier substitution patterns.

Overall, I feel we were somewhat disjointed and lacking cohesion, though we overcame that with our now regular key stops late and scoring heroics from Cap and Deuce.

We have so much talent to integrate now. I can only imagine how good we'll be once that integration process of a deeper bench matures.

I had a slightly different take but maybe they both not too far off.

This was a game where the Knick's coaching staff could get away with playing the young guys more and seeing what they got cause Pelicans not that good. But then Bey got hot and refs lets them all play by Australian rugby rules or something.

Doubt they free wheel as much against the Spurs but who knows

That makes sense too

NO has some talent on their roster. Not sure they will remain as bad the rest of the season, but they are still a team we should beat.

Plus, any team that let's Jordan Poole take their last shot deserves to lose

Pelicans are dripping with premium talent -- it's all over the place and I think Borrego is making strides but Zion is an issue for them.

Bey is nice - wish he didn't have such a good game. He is physical and his post play isn't something we really have outside of Kat getting his shot blocked by other teams entire roster.

I wouldn't trade Mo, we need to develop cheap talent off the bench. He has a pretty damn high ceiling too. Him and Kolek make no sense to trade IMO, clear roles for them now and in the future. But it seems like a Bey type is something we could possibly use. But with Shamet and Josh back I'm not really sure how much we need there, even in the event where OG or Mikal go down, we seem to have enough depth, but I'm open to adding Bey just for more size and insurance on OG/Mikal. The biggest need we have IMO is a 3rd Center. If I were going to prioritize one move, that would be it. We are uber thin at C with a very fragile backup.

I mentioned in one of the recent game threads, we seem to have gotten addicted to playing with fire since the Indiana game. We are digging holes in every game and relying on Brunson heroics to win every single one of them. That trend feels much like last years team and a lot less like the true contender looking team we have seen for a lot of this year. It's fun to win these games, but lots of red flags. That said, we are playing lots of inexperienced guys and still coming out with wins, so the glass can be half full. Would like to see them start whooping teams again though. Doesn't feel great going into the Spurs rematch but maybe that is what we need to wake up and play our best.

Also, I have never seen Brunson as animated against a teammate as he was with Yabu late in the 4th last night. I think there might be something there in terms of Yabu getting dog housed. Wonder if Brunson is not a big fan of his (can't blame him).

MO & Kolek are definitely the two most important pieces that we can develop this year. If OG goes down we really don't have another PF on the roster and even OG isn't a natural 4. MO developing solves alot, b/c he compliments KAT out there so much.

And Kolek is the only natural playmaking PG on the roster.

Kevin would be great as a backup forward as well if he can continue to develop.

Yabu hit some 3's and thats great but if you watch the game he really is just so slow footed and makes so many boneheaded plays. IDK if he's just nervous or what, but he has zero IQ or feel for the right play. I CRINGE when he has the ball or is setting a screen, I think I trust 20 year old MO more alreayd.

If Diawara is REAL particularly defensively -- could imagine his length having a potential impact come playoff time guarding likes of Cade, Maxey, Mitchell, Brown, Wagner....same goes for McCullar (in small spurts).

N.O. announcers Joel Myers and Antonio Daniels were commenting on Knicks length when we had OG/Mikal/Diawara on the floor together --- saying "there's not much space out there".

That ASS just stands out big time - especially when guys dribble right around him. Very few guys look that slow footed -- he moves like Kat on D but at 6'8".

MO & Kolek showing big signs of development is probably the most exciting thing for me this season, because we looked way too top heavy last season, we had zero depth and now all of a sudden it could be a strength.
