None of the Mav's BS narratives make sense. I'm guessing this has more to do with ownership side wanting to keep their cash flowing for other business ventures. If that's the case, then Luka was probably better off getting off that train now.

With all do respect to wade, I think the jersey sale comment depicts how Luka might have been under appreciated in Dallas market.
As for decline of the NBA, why are they expanding and franchise values continue to rise?
If ratings are so bad, why did collective of networks pay record Amounts?
They still draw. Perhaps the league has peaked. that I might agree, but the fact is most pro sports viewership is down. Yet they provide content for TV that is valuable.

League intervention? Its a nice thing to think about when ones logic dies not add up. Why would Dallas do this? Were they promised a top picks at some point? If so, we'll never know. We read that Dallas was not happy with Luka. Fans extrapolate the past to the future. They see a bloated star who has yet to have the fire in his belly to work on his body year round. How is that different than Nokola Jokic? Im not sure. Joker had potential but he worked on his conditioning and drills and he evolved to be the MVP. Luka basically came into the league at 19 and killed it right away. A rare talent indeed! As a fan its easy for me or any non pro athlete to slam these guys and demonize them for being "lazy". Hardly. Luka no doubt works his ass off to be at this level but as his body matures it gets harder. there are stories that Dallas burned thru trainers that could not get him to do the work. Brunson has hired one of them. He knows the real story. Being a gentleman he won't burn Luka if there is a truth there. Luka and Jalen are similar in they have mastered the limits of what there body types can do. Jalen deficits are he is 6-7 inches shorter than doncic. But Jalen has avoided injury for the most part. Luka is a big boy with a penchant to not have a lean muscle mass.
The Great ones adapt and evolve. Jury is out on Luka.
He wears baggy clothes so its hard to judge his condition.
I believe many fans are discounting AD abilities and what he can bring to Mats the next three years. Might be injury misery. Might be another finals run. It was a crazy trade. I think Dallas was focused on who they can bring in for this window rather than open it up to a bidding war.
The open concept of "they could have done better" is valid but not if they had a specific objective. What player could then bring in that has true two way play at PF? Davis plays elite defense. His injuries are an issue and he will miss games. So does any above 30 top player.
If healthy they can win.

One thing y'all have to admit, that trade took balls to exact. Dallas for moving a beloved superstar and Lakers for the starphuch. In my mind its low risk because they did not leverage the future for Luka. Why? They don't have one. They operate on keeping an attractive gate getter and they are protecting themselves if Leborn tears an achilles and is done. remember what happend with Kobe? He ate a huge amount of salery and the team faultered. With Balmer in town and now has his own arena nicer than Staples they are competing a bit. If Luka can find another level of physicality and stay healthy he'll do great. He can draw fans while they tread water and retool. If not can Lakers protect themselves of a max player being unproductive? Depends. Thing is they can clear cap space but they have little trade fodder unless a player walks unrestricted. Lakers are attractive but thats a big gamble.
If Lebron retired and teams not competitive they likely were going to move Davis anyway.

Lakers want our Mitch? They will have to pay. Knicks are not going to give him away nor do they have to.

As a fan, this trading deadline has been cool as any I can recall!

If the league wanted this what can possibly be given, legally, as incentive?
Btw, Luka already squashed rumors that he was not going to sign or that he would have not been willing to accommodate to stay in Dallas.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the Lakers are better this season with Luka over AD. We'll see how they look after the trade deadline but they don't have any size or front court depth and the duo of Luka and LeBum isn't a perfect fit since they both need the ball and play a similar style.

Honestly, it would be best for both the Lakers and LeBum if they part ways right now. They aren't winning a ring this season.

The nba is now trying to get the Knicks to trade Mitch to the lakers for a 2nd. Silver is desperate to push the lakers next 10 years and is now orchestrating nonsense trades

Saw something similar to this on Reddit and I agree. Imagine if we traded JB and Deuce for Lilliard, Pat Connaghton and a first. And then Rose went on to leak how Brunson was fat and spending too much time on his podcast. And then he went on about how this trade ensures the team stays competitive in the future going forward. Would that make sense to you?

The thing is Kobe was never going to play in Charlette. he threatend to play in Europe until a trade was given. So the context of the moment was the Hornets got a very nice productive player for the 13th pick.
Interesting, your really doing the "Like I said before that trade".......actually referencing your opinion from 1996?

Davis played 76 games last season and was 4th in DPOY, all star and all NBA2. In 42 games he is avg 34 min a game, 25.7 pts per, 2 block shots and 11.9 rebs per game.
Nothing is lost on me regarding the perceived imbalance of the trade but Davis brings something different to the dallas team that has Thompson and Dinwiddie doing well at the 2. No team makes it if not healthy. If Dallas wins a chip Harrison wins the deal.
As for must see TV, yeah I want to see Luka and Lebron after a few practices.
As for being in or out of shape? The question gets answered in the future which was Dallas perceived concern. Luka's numbers speak volumes of what he has done.
IM sure Dallas fans are pissed! I'd be too.

You keep making all these points arguing that this was not a bad trade for Dallas?
Most ones that can’t be confirmed.
What about the possibility that Nico just F’d up? Again?

He just took the Mavs to the finals. With an aging player that has not done much with other superstars.

He was going to be unaffordable and did not want to stay?
When asked that question at the conference, he seemed genuine in his response that it was bull**** and that he wanted to be a life long Mav.
Don’t believe The assumption that he would not take less to stay and continue to have a competitive team. And btw, what does KAT make? People acting like what a top three is going to command is going to kill a franchise. Yet also not afraid of an average guy making $60m?
