I'm still thinking, as I thought from the beginning that Hart + Bridges + OG is not the desired 2-3-4 players. At the time, though I thought it would be Hart to the bench for Precious. Even though I thought Bridges was an overpay (something which Martin made sure to call me "insane" for thinking), I didn't expect him to come off the bench. Now I don't know WHO should be starting. If Precious over Bridges, we have no real 2 guard in the line up. At this point, I would 100% trade Mikal for DVD and hope he could round back into the shape he was in with us last year - only I don't think we're allowed to.
JB
DDV
Hart
OG
KAT

This is why we don't freak out. Even if DDV returns to form, you don't trade 5 picks, then 20%into the season even if you could pay 5 picks, then use that asset (Mikal) for someone you picked up the year before as a free agent.

Now, Lets be fair he was not playing well.
To be fair, we doing this after a master performance on this thread that did not age well.

To be fair, this is why we don't freak out.

Bridges is accepting apology letters in front of the Mecca before Friday's game.

That version of Bridges who played yesterday (and really for the past 8-10 games) is who you trade 5 picks for. Hopefully, he can play around this level for the rest of the season. We have four players who can give you 25+ points on any given night on a regular basis. I don't think any other team has four guys like that. Most on have two, and even the good teams only have three.

Trust the Process

Like many players, Thibs wants things done a certain way. Mikal is very talented and perhaps as he added demands/assignments/plays sometimes played kind of blank out a bit.
We call them slumps and as a season goes along, especially with new players coaches do add more. "Adjustments" as one might say.
Perhaps Mikal hit a wall for a while absorbing things.

I don't have the number but I'd guess that Brunson's EOY numbers will be in line with the above or at least an increase from previous years.

I'd guess that the 5-out spacing and the midrange go hand-in-hand with one another. Establish the Out part and the middle is like the parting of the seas.

That is in line with his career. He's streaky, but I have no doubts that he'll end up around 37%.

Mikal and OG — last time we had two wing players this talented was the late 90’s Knicks teams with Spree and Houston and Houston was nowhere near the defender Kale and OG are.

Great defense against oxidants. Probably the best in the league.

I always felt like those shouldn’t count towards your shooting percentage unless they go in. Similar to shots when you get fouled. Anything over mid court.

Mikal is coming around. He’s playing exactly how we expected. Just took a little bit which is understandable. Just because a player should fit in seamless doesn’t mean they will right away.

His midrange game has been quite impressive, almost unique.
However,
As the 3rd option on offense, and as someone who was the playmaker in NJ Brooklyn, I would like to see Mikal Bridges be able to step up when Brunson is getting taken out of his game by strong defenses. He needs to be able both to step up his scoring when the pressure is on, and share handling the ball with Hart. I don't know why only Hart is being used as a release valve for JB and not Mikal. It feels like he disappears when JB is getting beat up, and especially in the fourth quarter.
His clutch factor seems to be low.
Why is it that we can get burned by bench or role players torching us in the clutch situations (Wiggins, Champagnie, TJ McConnell, Bobby Portis, the list goes on and on), but our own 3rd option is never that guy?

I won't mention OG, because I never expected his offensive role to be evolved enough to be able to take over a game. He can shoot the three, and he can get his in the paint, but he is far from a creator, and looks tentative every time he is handling the ball.

Wonder how much stamina is playing a part? Number one in the league.
