Deuce is a combo guard. You could run Deuce at the 2 and Kolek at point if necessary

Yeah, they really wanted this guy. The backup PG is his if he is that distributor we saw on his highlights.

Pretty bold and different type of signing for this franchise. I’m pumped

Talking regular rotation. Minutes at the 2 then involve taking away from DDV or Bridges.

But yes, roster is pretty fluid on positions.

Yeah. I’d guess that they’d give deuce as much time to show what he got while Kolek learns the ropes. And no doubt those guys would share court with Randle, Mikal, Hart to alleviate the ball handling.

Kolek, Deuce, DDV, Hart, Randle gonna be so much fun. Run run run and shoot and run som more.

It’s a long regular season and injuries are a constant.

Kolek is a true pass first PG with scoring potential. If his defense is at least decent, he could develop into our long-term backup PG, which this team has really needed. I love Duece but he has a rough time running the offense, and he is more suited to playing as a spot up shooter while someone else handles the ball. We really needed someone who could run the second unit at least as well as Quickley did, and Kolek has the chance to be that guy. That is why the Knicks signed him to a four year deal. They wanted to lock him up longterm.

I was just looking at a couple of trade scenarios with Utah that would give us Kessler and Clarkson. Deuce would need to be in the trade package. It would hurt to trade Deuce but I think I would do it. Clarkson as bench scorer and Kessler as the last missing piece

The other piece in the trade would be either Mitch or DDV.

Knicks aren't going to trade DDV and ship out one of the Nova boys unless they got some type of Godfather offer that just couldn't be refused. Donte will be our backup PG/SG with Hart & Mikal taking ball handling duties. With Randle also getting staggered somewhat to have the offense run through him for gravity.

I dont see Deuce really trying to run the offense. More often than not he is playing like a shoot first PG. We have too much talent in the second unit now to have McBride playing that way.

Ive seen Deuce play more like a traditional PG. With Kolek possibly knocking on the door, it might motivate him to show more of that side of his game again. If Kolek can play some respectable D, Deuce is going to have some competition.

besides comparison to a taller McConnell some think he will be more a Dragic, as a backup PG that would be great. Still waiting on the center?

From the NY Post..

Some praise from his old coach Shaka Smart..

“His passing is as good as I’ve seen, and I think it will really, really translate. Now you have to have the ball in your hands, and he’s not going to have the ball in his hands as much as he did here,” Smart said. “But I actually think the part of his game that may surprise some people up there, that I’ve always felt was underrated, is his shooting. Because now you’re playing with Brunson, you’re playing with [Mikal] Bridges, guys that command a lot of attention. Can you make that open shot when your [defender] helps? And I think he’ll be able to do that at a high level.

So you're saying there's a chance

I have the same hype level I had for McBride after we drafted him. I don't know how long it will take but I can see him contributing to the team.

Wasn’t really hyped about Deuce, don’t remember him being known as a true PG like Kolek has been touted to be. Even with the record contract, Kolek panning out as a legit backup PG. who can give his teammates good looks, would be a big money saver. Wouldn’t have to eat into the cap to bring a vet like that to NY.

There's like a 5% chance Kolek could be Nash. His passing instincts are terrific in his game tape. Still a bit surprising he slipped

I saw a little bit of Nash also. 5% might be high though. Looking forward to having a passer in the second unit.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Also bigger and more athletic. To be honest I'm not sure who to compare Kolek's game too in the current era. There aren't many guards in that mold in the current. The biggest thing to me is how he holds up defensively.
