He would be deadly on the Heat.
They have a matching contract and picks to give up for him ? Also time for the Knicks to consider blocking a team like Miami from making trades as well. We should have traded for one of KP or Jrue to keep them from Boston.
What would you have given up to have accomplished that?
Jrue is 33, hell of a player for a team with a two year window like Celitcs. Was a "Smart" deal for them.
KP is a killer with that roster. For us? Maybe not so. And again, what price?
For Jrue, Grimes, contract to match in deal, and a pick. For KP same value they gave up for KP to DC. Others have gone over the trade package for KP. Would have made us better and simultaneously kept a rival stay at our level. But whatever... Knicks have to be more aggressive in trades eventually. Can't Keep putting our faith in a major trade some time down the road. Feels like when we were waiting for the big free agent signings like Lebron, always looking for the perfect future piece while neglecting the current possibilities.
HOliday makes 33MM. “COntract to match”, if you want to play pretend GM, other than Fornier, what other contracts who happen to be players do you offer. Remember, Other teams does not have infinate space either.
And, how many picks do you use? Cause and effect matters.
THe past did not work attracting players for many reasons besides money. FO turmoil and constant changes were a turn off. Cockblocking teams from improving is a good idea which is why GM’s create a bidding war for players. Increases the take. HOliday will be resigned and its still going to be a big number. He would have helped but adding a 33 player has long and short term ramifications.
NO doubt FA signings to major deals are limited by new cap rules that over time favor players resigning which result in trades. So the past knick FA starphuch fails are not as relevant.
