FVV rumor might also be a singal/reminder to OKC that Knicks have cap space and there are other options (e.g., we're not giving good assets for CP3 to help your rebuild; we have cash and can get a younger guy)not sure i feel about FVV on the KNicks. ON the Raptors, what's not to like? how does he fit with us
Let me answer that question of how he fits with us with another - how much better is FVV than Payton or DSjr.
Is he 5x better? Is he 10x? or just 2x?
We have plenty of holes and plenty of cash. I'd have to look at the cap numbers, but I'm pretty sure we can add FVV at max type money and still have room in the future if some other star (like Giannis Antetokounmpo) wanted to come here in the future.
Think about this - we spent $12M on Payton and DSjr this past year. Was it worth it? FVV @ $30M is really only costing us $18M more than what we already spent on garbage performance.
you won't hear me arguing against an upgrade over Payton and even DSJ (though i think Thibs will give DSJ a fair shot)
But their sucking, does not mean FVV is the answer. There's plenty to like about FVV when you watch a Raptor's game but that doesn't mean his skills will translate to what Thibs wants to do.
Point i was trying to make is there may be ulterior motives to the rumor, including creating some leverage in any Paul negotiations (which i'm also not crazy about but just saying...) and it wouldn't be the first time that a team does this so some other team overpays and screws up their cap sheet
