Team has not looked mentally tough, nevermind 3pt D. Last game, they looked sharp for a quarter, then one turnover led to many. Not just Xs and Os. If Miller can help keep them focused for 4 quarters, that will be a big step in the right direction.

Good luck with that one. We have too many mentally weak and emotionally fragile team full of backup forwards. The real change will come when the roster is turned over again, after these 1 yr contracts expire.

Agreed

Disagree. Would not call our forwards mentally weak as individual players. Collectively, yes. Believe the reason for that distinction, is the team is effectively rudderless. Didnt see the leadership from Fizdale, didnt see enough of it at the point. Its been a weird season with our PGs.

Definitely some improvment from Frank and Dennis, not enough to lead the team with their play. Morris and Randle arent used to being called upon to lead, more a lack of experience than weakness.

If Perry made one noticeable mistake, it was signing both Randle and Morris. Believe its messing with the chemistry. The more games I see, the more I hope Morris sticks around. If Miller can get the PGs to effectively run the team, settle things down. Believe the team will start playing with more focus, wont fall apart from the pressure, as a team. My hope anyway.

I was actually agreeing to the part that I bold printed....We need to get these 1 yr rentals off the roster! Is Morris can yield an additional 1st round pick or a young player who needs an opportunity, I'd move him asap!

So why was Keith Smart the only assistant let go? Was he loyal to Fizdale or was there something else?

Unfortunately it was no good way out of this situation.
But at the end of the day now the pressure is off everybody.

Smart is Fis buddy for a long time.
They will go together to the team which will pickup Fiz if any.

Yes, you have to go way out of your way very purposely for this to happen. Spiteful

This was after Perry and Mills shook Fiz's hand at practice.

Fiz won't say anything in public. He has 2 3/4 years left on a 4 year 22 mil deal.

I could believe the PR department just overlooked. For all the resources the Knicks have, the PR guys have been pretty clueless at times. Remember the time Dolan released a press release on the LA stadium drama and they released it on Knicks letterhead?

Good riddance. He failed really badly.

People are mostly pissed because Dolan still owns the team and mills is still here.

I believe this firing also sets their clock in motion. Mills is probably gone this offseason unless Miller proves he was right about his roster construction. Dolan needs a winning team very soon otherwise he will start to really think about selling the franchise to avoid embarrassment amongst his peers. He wants to sit at the game and feel proud of his franchise not leave at halftime.

You seem to be one of the only people that truly gets it.

Fiz gave me hope with his words but this wasn’t even basketball being played on the floor at times. I had zero confidence in Fiz outsmarting the other team. I’m just hoping that this is just to 1st step to a real wake up call with this franchise. Mills is next, I can feel it. Dolan is pissed he can’t enjoy his spent money. He can’t like being constantly embarrassed. Mills sold these ideas to him. He will have to pay soon. If not something is very wrong here and the NBA will step in.

The NBA will never step in unless Dolan asks for help or God forbid, sells the team.

Every single one of you applauding this move, thinking its going to better the team, will be writing the same things in 2021. The same exact "starting lineup should be" or "the team quit on him."

Winning has quit on the Knicks. As long as Dolan runs the team, it's a dead franchise. You are the 80's Clippers. Stop pretending a coaching change is going to right this Titanic when James Dolan is the iceberg.

Coaching is a fraternity. Pop is loyal

Pop and Kerr talk too much now.bordering on arrogant

the best coaches in the league this year, e.g., Bud, Stevens, Nurse stay focused on their team

talk less; coach more

Having said that, was a dick move by Knicks not to have kind words for Fizzdale's exit. He was a horrible coach, but he seemed very hard working and devoted.

Dolan is obviously pissed -- as you would be too having spent this much money for an inferior product -- but he can be absolutely juvenile in his responses.

My bad. Mills might finally be a goner. Dolan hates bad press, and Ive seen the papers, NBA's the jump, focus on Mills being a constant in all the losing, as well as Dolan. Usually the media doesnt focus on Mills, just Dolan.

Dolan isnt going to fire himself. If that is the plan, to bring in a new mgmt team, agree that a quality pick would be the way to go. Would give the next front office more to work with. Otherwise, we do need role players, Morris would be a good addition, if he wasnt paid like a star. Doubt we would get a promising player for an expiring contract. A team would have to be pretty desperate.
