The discussion was MDA being a great coach. There is no further discussion needed to prove that Pop is a great coach. Regardless of regular season, a GREAT coach finds a way to win that series. Specially against a team having it's 3 main players at less than 100%.

It's popular on the internet to bash MDA but these people aren't really taking a deeper look at the situation. The Rockets overachieved and that's a fact. They were a 3 seed but not on the level of Spurs or Warriors. It ended poorly but they had a good year.

Even haters of Leborn should take a moment to appreciate what he has been doing the last 8 years warts and all. Yeah he flops. Yeah he over dramatizes when he gets hit. Otherwise, his performaces are quite impressive. His post career legend will grow as it does all players of that level.

I was speaking about MDA not you in terms of who it may burn inside. You habe tried to down play their offense thoguhtout this thread even though they have been one of the more efficient offenses in the league over the years. There is nothing wrong with 3s. So them taking more 3s means nothing to me. They are a balanced team that can attack in every way possible. That's the point.

But they have employed the 2 7fters dating back to Splutter within the modern era. And have maintained extremely efficient offenses to go with their defense.

Hmmmm. I actually had the opposite interpretation: I think they have too much talent to only be 14th in scoring, 9th in per 100. They have an MVP candidate, borderline all-star in Aldridge, and several crafty future HOFers who are still good. There's a good chance that 4 or 5 of their core players will be in the HOF. I initially wrote in my previous message that their offense was underachieving slightly but then thought that would take the conversation in a different direction. Regardless, it's clear that their defense is what carries them. If their defense was on the same level as their offense, they'd probably barely make the playoffs.

They slow down the offense in order to enhance their defense. Plus the older guys and bigd arent going to be able to keep up with a higher pace without breaking down physically and sacrificing their defense.

You do realize that NO ONE actually said MDA was a great coach. You made that up!!! People were defending MDA as a good coach, which he is. Now let's also remember that Pop after losing Parker still had Mills and minus Kawhi still had Aldridge, Pau, Green and Manu. There's a reason the spurs came in as a better team. THEY ARE a better team than the Rockets. After Harden who do you really have on the Rockets that is anything special? MDA maximized what he had and that is the mark of a good coach. He didn't have an Aldridge to fall back on. Not to mention this is his 1st season with the Rockets!!! You really need to stop.

You're the one with the issues about MDA! Also if EVERY Coach in the NBA was GOOD then why has MDA gotten another job despite NY and LA? You're basically saying the Rockets don't know Shyte but hired MDA over other better options!!!

The fact is MDA led them to a much better record than last year. Still the Rockets roster is not better than the Spurs. If the Rockets lose Harden like Kawhi they don't stand a chance of doing what Aldridge, Pau, Manu etc did.
