There seems to always be someone suggesting we could've done better. Perhaps, but Phil didn't strike out and in this kind of market that's a big deal. We got quality players that fit together and actually LIKE EACH OTHER! These guys are friends off the court and wanted to play with each other. That kind of intangible is a good thing when you're putting a new group together. Noah and Rose already have chemistry and have played some Triangle. Lee is used to change and fitting into a new team. He's blended in with different groups and maintained his production.

We will need that cap space to find a backup PG and a backup SG

They only have 4.3m left to find both unless they trade O'Quinn. They may find someone but I'd rather they invested in a young guy with upside instead of a 4yr contract to a guy over 30. He's an okay player so it is what it is

I think they want to win now and saw Lee as the right guy. Fournier resigned with the Magic. I think Portland matches an offer to Crabbe. I don't think Rivers was leaving the clips/dad. Waiters may have been attainable but I think Lee is a better choice. Batum resigned. I think Lee was the guy. Maybe Holiday continues to develop. Not much out there. Marks may make an offer to Crabbe and if the Blazers don't match we can certainly second guess the Lee signing.

Unless they get some breaks health wise they are not winning much now. So if you do not have an elite team you need to hedge especially if the players you are choosing from are of equal talent but one is younger. Crabbe will most likely not be the one breaking down in a year or two.. ALso, I like the fact that crabbe can play the 2/3.

I know they are looking for a back up point but hopefully they can snag a young back up 2.

So if we had to offer Crabbe a Noah-like contract to MAYBE prevent the Blazers from matching, you're on board with that? No Noah or Lee for Crabbe at $18-$22M? The Blazers said they're matching all offers for Crabbe, so obviously we would need to offer something outrageous to get him.

You could still get noah if you trade O'quinn? That would create around $19m-20m of cap space. There is a chance that the Blazers match but they would over extend themselves to much. They are going to give McCollom a max or near max extension plus they have Harkless and Leonard(Mega-Bieber) this year and the best Plummlee to resign next year.

I think the Evan Turner move showed their hand. That was a huge contract to add on top of all their own r/FAs.

There are a lot of ifs and buts there. Not sure that any of it would work out. I think Lee is a good fit. The Nets need to do something and are rumored to be interested in Crabbe. It will be interesting to see if Portland matches if they make an offer. I agree about Turner though.

lee is definitely a journeyman and on the surface merely okay. but he may have been the best defender at the shooting guard/wing position behind evan turner. if only lee had better playmaking ability to take up the slack a bit. rose is underwhelming as a pick and roll guard but at least now his atrocious defense will be covered up a little. acquiring noah for his playmaking alone makes the knicks very intriguing.

lee is basically a pretty good fit with the others.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Lee is only costing us 12% of our cap space. He's a fine team player who plays good defense and should fit in well. A fine acquisition!

Of the three major moves - Rose, Noah and Lee, Lee is the one move I like. He plays good d and can hit the open jumper. He also has a way of staying healthy.

While we could have done better, and certainly worse, its a good signing that is not that great, but not that awful. He is better than Affalo, but not that much better. I thick we could have signed him for less, or signed him for more.
I like the signing, but not love it. At the same time, I don' hate it either. Its the kind of signing that makes me happy, but then sad we didn't starphuch more. Still, if we had startphuched, I'd be angrier if not sad. I wish we could have gotten a second round pick with him. What if he went into the closet and took one, then we signed him? Maybe he got some rolls of ankle tape and some towels.
Still, its the kind of signing you pay a guys 60 mil to do, get angry at his salary, then understand that the phil gets paid to not starphuch.

Crazy right, pay a guy like phil to do the right thing.

Rose is only for one year. If he is great, re-sign him. If not, let him go.

Noah is needed for leadership. He's on a great deal given the new cap.

Makes Noah contract less bad, as if we had paid Noah less, it would have just meant we would have paid Lee more.

It's a great signing. He's a very good role player. Not a bum like Afflalo trying to be a role player.

We didn't need a superstar high scoring SG when we have Rose, Melo, & KP in the same lineup. We needed a Danny Green type who can shoot 3's and do everything else average to above average. Know we finally have some synergy on both ends of the floor. Lee won't and doesn't need to average 4 assists a game. The ball won't be in his hands as much. He will make plays off the big 3.

Now we need a Chalmers, Vasquez or Shved to accept a deal to play for a good team in New York.

Vasquez is the best but will probably get more elsewhere. Shved would be perfect, no question he'd rather play in the NBA if the money is somewhat equal to what he is making over there. Phil should've gave him KOQ & Serafin's money last year but Fisher wanted Serafin!

Both Vasquez and Shved can spot start if Rose goes down. Not sure if Chalmers could do the same but he is everything you want in a backup PG Defense and shoot 3's. Prototypical NBA backup PG

I also wantnto throw out Norris Cole into the backup PG mix.

Is Cole available? Thats a great call Joe throw his name in the hat! He would probably get more elsewhere tho.

All these guys will they are still young and potential starters and with the money going around. Consider us lucky if we land an older prototypical back up PG in Chalmers for under $4mil

I like Cole as a cheap backup option. We will need to grab a few players like him to fill out the roster.
