I thought I'd give Phil Jackson the offseason to prove himself, but after this I'm not too sure

He addressed this.
Said he was not trying to claim this guy was on Curry's level.
Just that they were similarities in how they handle and shoot the ball from outside.

People are so looking for a reason to go off on Phil it's uncanny. They act as if we were some contender he broke up. He inherited a horrible team - that was on it's way down filled with veteran former stars and Melo just starting his physical decline. The team was in the lottery when he got here. Yes in 2 years they are still in the lottery, but he's add some pieces to replace the talent we had back then - younger and for the longterm.

From Chandler, Bragnani, Amare he's gone to Lopez, Porzingis, Williams. Average age of the latter trio is under 24 years old. Average age of what we had is 31 years old. The backcourt is something still needing to be addressed with free agency, but there have been moves with Galloway (24 years old) and Grant (23 years old). The real difference in 2013 Melo could give you 27 points a night at 45 percent shooting. He was a difference maker and a better player. Right now Melo's not on the same level as a scorer. This alone affects us, and you can argue 5 more losses just based on Melo's level. When Melo was playing at his best we saw this before the ankle injury the team was able to be 22-22 and push for the playoffs.

I have no doubt if this team had the Melo of 2010-13, they would be in the playoffs or right there at .500 trying to get in. The biggest thing to get out of this hole is Phil to get Dolan/Melo to sign off on trading him for longterm assets. Hopefully in the backcourt/perimeter, where we need the most help talent wise.

I agree with this. Also i don't see the problem with Phil showing a little moxie. It's not like he's out there like Rex Ryan was.

there's a lot of overreaction to this tweets. Keep in mind, we're not talking about somebody who is a social media guy

His "goink" tweet was way overblown as a dig at the Warriors, and obviously the timing of that tweet sort of invited that, but to be honest it wasn't all that wrong. Obviously the Warriors won and that was sort of exhibit A against the tweet, but there have been a lot of 3 point focused teams which had already failed. And if the Warriors don't win this year, and instead get pounded inside by a larger team, then what? Are people going to give Phil for being right

Ditto on the most recent tweet. I read it as praise for Chris Jackson moreso than a dig at Curry. Recalling Jackson at LSU and later in the pros, when he got in the zone it was crazy. He'd take crazy, crazy shots for swish after swish

We're all frustrated with the loses and the record, but let's give Phil some slack. He's doing things the right way

Relevant to the "how's it goink" discussion. Analytics seem to be goink pretty well, Phil. How is your 1950s system goink?
