I disagree, Paul played with better players, period...He is in higher regard because of the Finals run...

I was actually going by their careers up to their age 30 seasons. Pierce was better and that's not a slight at Melo. Pierce is a really great player.

Better how??? And I too think Pierce is a great player..

Pierce is not a better rounder or scorer...Pierce legacy was created after the big 4 and rightfully so...

I disagree, I think Pierce was a better scorer but Melo has him on rebounding. Pierce was the better assister too.

People can argue who is the better defender all day. I would give Melo the slight edge because he can amp up his defense. I never seen Pierce defend at a high level before the "arrival.

Anyway, I still would take Pierce over Melo.

I think Melo is the better defender when he cares...He is the better rebounder and today can shoot a better three...I think Melo's three has improved since coming to the Knicks...Melo has always been the better post player...Melo has shot a better three at the high point in his career than Pierce has at his high point. stats prove it...Pierce at at 30 was never as good as Melo is today...Pierce in his prime wasn't getting double teamed night in and night out...

what is pierce better than Melo at?

Passing and clutch shots...

Hold on now, Pierce is definitely the better 3ball shooter because of his constant high level of shooting even before the big two arrived. Has Melo gotten better, Yes but last year stole some of his thunder. I am not sure how the knee effected his 3pt shot but if it wasn't for a bad year shooting the 3 his offensive season would looked a bit different.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Pierce...He can't give you what Melo gives you..Paul won't carry your team for a month in his prime...Paul won't give you 42 pts and 17 boards when u need it...

PP also won't shoot you out of games half the time. If melo's shot is not falling one night, his team is phucked.

Wait, don't tell me you're bringing up Me7o's stats when he got swept to kingdom come in the first round against this same Boston Celtics team....

The epitome of useless statistics. Holfresh please never bring up stats in a crushing loss and series sweep.

It doesn't help your case.

It is interesting you use he and not the knicks because you are making Holfresh point that teammates matter.
It is also interesting that is the series where Melo lead the team in Rebs, ast, stls, and pts.

teammates do matter somewhat but it can't be used as an end all excuse. It should be used for wins and losses more than for going 5 for 30.

Has Me7o ever advanced past the 2nd round in a Knicks uni even when he had tons of supporting cast?

I'll continue to use He as the "face" and "leader" of this franchise.

Just continuous utter disappointment since 2011.

When has he had tons of supporting cast?

Tyson Chandler, JKidd, Ray Felton, KMart, JR Smith, Pablo Prigioni, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Copeland, Iman Shumpert...

I'm sure the typical Roster excuse will come in T minus 3, 2, 1.....

Um Me7o himself didn't show up for the playoff series either.

Funny when the Knicks were winning 54 games, the roster didn't seem like a problem...

It's always revisionist history with the homertards.
