I agree to an extent. But, Mudiay and Winslow wont impact the game on the same level as Stein can on defense (protecting the rim, guarding the PNR, etc). Stein is 7'1...cant teach size. If he shows the potential to have some type of offensive game, it will be very hard to pass Stein up....

Let me ask you a question

Kaminsky was 1/2 taller than Stein. His all around game is hundred of miles ahead of Stein.

Lets do this--lets put Stein on Wisconsin and Kaminsky on Kentucky--who wins?

I get that Stein is a C with nice athletic ability--hey his jumpshot looks improved. But what I saw in the games was a very inconsistent player. How does inconsistency over 3 years translate to the pros? Isnt that a major red flag? When you hear that Kaminsky busted his face went to the hospital and came back to play--what does that say to you? When Hornacek is describing him you could see that he was holding back admiration yet still calling his skills diverse and excellent. So if we cant teach size how about the best skill player in the draft also being the tallest?

Briggs... you're bringing logic to a love-fest. You will not convince the people who like Stein that any other big man we can pick is better for the Knicks than he is.

Go back to the some threads in early April and you can see the initial reaction to how Kaminsky and Stein played in their game. I think a lot of folks wanted to see the KU/Duke matchup, and were very unhappy with the score and how some played. Some of the people who love Stein now felt differently back then, or at least didn't support him as he got ripped.

KU would have destroyed them if those 2 had switched sides. A Towns/Kaminsky inside outside game would have been unstoppable. Not sure Wisconsin would have made it to the semis.

A lot of people who like Stein see the highlights. If there was one thread of a guy who is saying Stein is the next Bill Russell --hey why was Stein being pushed around the court by Nigel Hayes and Pay Connughton. If they are being fair and impartial--lets go bring back up the Wisconsin game thread--we dont have too because they didnt watch. They are going to youtube and watching just the "strength" section of highlights and not even considering the weakness. If someone said I like Stein but than Id give them more credibility. But there is not of that. I think Stein is a 10-7-2 player or close to it at max.

Is that really the point tho? Who cares about switching players on college teams? That has no bearing on the value of each player when it comes to the NBA and how they'll impact their team.

Kaminsky is a very good player and no one is taking that away from him. He should be a very good pro. The Knicks however, don't NEED what Kaminsky brings as much as they need what WCS brings to the table.

Kevin Love had very little impact on his team when he was the star in Minnesota. He's still a great talent but just because you can score like Love doesn't mean he's gonna have the needed impact on his team. That's why i'm not fooled by what Kaminsky does. I want WCS because his impact is greater as it really makes the overall team better even without needing the ball. If WCS develops his offense it's a nice plus.

MEH! You're simply underselling what WCS actually does. His game doesn't totally show up in the boxscore. You can't say what WCS would do on a different team. He might be featured more on a different team and that might have played to his teams advantage. Kaminsky is a fine Prospect but what he does is just different from WCS and has a different impact in the NBA.

WCS can have a huge impact without the ball. The Knicks could extend their defense and transform from one of the worst to one of the best defenses in the NBA. We wouldn't need a scorer like Kaminsky if we could play great defense. There's less pressure on the offense when you can get stops and play efficient offense due to getting more fast breaks. WCS can be efficient offensively without needing the ball or plays called for him.

So when the competition went up in class--where was WCS game? It was hidden behind Nigel hayes arse. If he was so good--why didnt he stop Kaminsky--Kaminsky went 21-12.

What's wrong with you? I'm talking about the NBA.

You really don't get it. I thought you really understood what winning in the NBA was about but now I'm no longer sure you understand the impact players have. You keep talking about WCS being a 10-7-2 player but that's not the point. You clearly don't get it. It's how WCS effects all the other players and how the team as a whole plays with him in the mix. He does all of this without needing the ball. You can't seem to understand how all of this impact how you build a team either.

I wonder if OK4 agrees to a workout with us- on one hand his agent may worry it's sending out a signal that his stock is plummeting, but on the other hand he needs to have a fallback option in case Twolves or lakers do something crazy.

I don't think so. My guess is Towns and OK4 will try to play it cool like they know they're 1-2.

Already heard that Towns was not going to do personal workouts. Does OK4 plan on sending a private video workout to teams instead of doing the kind of thing we've seen from others?

I understand that these decisions are agent-driven, but it seems foolish, IMO.

You have trade down and trade up possibilities, and why wouldn't Towns show a team like the Lakers that he is worthy of trading up to?

I would think that of the 4 top teams picking, Minnesota is the least desirable spot to end up for a young player if you are looking at the respective metro areas associated with each team. I guess I'm being a snob, but I've lived in a small town in Alabama, Indianapolis, and Buffalo, so I have some idea of what is offered in various cities.

The NBA forces its coaches and players to endure those idiotic interviews between periods ("So coach, could you please give America a detailed plan on how you will alter your game plan to beat your opponent."), there should be a minimum of team workouts a potential draft pick should have to attend, IMO.

Wolves getting the top pick instead of us has ruined things for everyone- Towns wants to go to NY, Mudiay wants to go to the Lakers and Russell wants to go to the Sixers. Everyone would have been happy!

Philly has been gaming the draft system for a few years.

Lakers were clearly sitting out healthy players.

Minny, under Kahn, continued to get high lottery picks since they picked up Love, but still can't get it right- they also seemed to be sitting out players who could have played.

Knicks have a star player who, for individual reasons, decides play despite an injury requiring surgery, and a DLeague which squad beats the Spurs (screwed up their playoff seeding, I think), Atlanta, and some other teams- moving it out of the #1 pre-lottery slot.

Almost like a bloody nightmare, to be honest.

Thankfully this is s deep draft 1-8+, but it would have been nice being in a commanding position for once.

Maybe the BB gods who have turned their backs on the Knicks this year feel guilty and help us out in the actual draft.

C.Payne is coming in for a workout with the Knicks. He's actually a point guard i really like but obviously as a trade down option.

Here's video of Mudiay at the lakers mostly shooting. In one video someone off camera asks can he be compared to anyone over the last 20 years and someone replies Kendall Gill.

Mudiay IMO is not about shooting so really a workout like that isn't really going to show you his impact. It's all about his PG team running skills. He's gonna only really look good in a 5 on5 game setting. Makes me wonder what the Knicks will look to have him do in their workout with Mudiay.

Different angle, but I though the video I saw yesterday had him releasing the ball before he reached the top of his jump.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about or not seeing it with my older eyes, but you take your legs, and some degree of control, from your shot if you release at the apex or shortly after that point.

Unfair to compare him to one of the best shooters ever, but this a Steph Curry shooting style video.

Watch from 5:20 onward, when the narrator talks about the "set point." Curry almost always releases the ball as he's going up.

Defenders always seem to expect you to release at the top of your jump- Curry doesn't jump that high, but gets his shot off earlier than many do.

If you go back and watch from 3:20, you can see how he gets it off early- if he had taken it like many do, I think it would have been blocked (3:25-8) by the Buck's defender.

That Tout page actually has a video of Wayne Ellington hitting his shots...watch how smooth his release is, and he's been known for his shot.

Mudiay did show some better form on some if the shots, but consistency is the key.

OKC have promised to take him at 14, I think, so you can't trade down further than that
