The mere fact this season was NOT by design leaves a black mark on Phil. God forbid if this season repeats itself without a draft pick.

Phil organized the staff based on his personal comfort level with them as people, not based on their credentials. Secondarily, he hired the coaching staff on the premise of instituting the triangle and for that he decided he had to have someone who had played under him. That was his dumbazz criteria for choosing Fish. Says loads about Phil's lack of insight and his insularity. He built a cocoon for himself where the real world doesn't intrude on his philosophical musings.

You do realize that he won a title just 5 years ago? You think he's not going to surround himself with the very same WINNERS he had when he was coaching? You're talking about men that known nothing but winning for decades. Yeah that was real dumb to hire men who have won for most of their careers. Phil won a title in 2009-10 and lost in the 2nd Rd. in 2010-11. People talk like he was out of the league for 10 years. He's not lost even if he has taken some lumps this year. Too much is being put on the fact that Plan A failed. This process wasn't all about this year. This summer Phil should have a top 1-4 pick and so one way or another he's gonna add a talent player. He's gonna have cash to spend so there's no reason that he can't go after the guys he wants unlike this season where he didn't have the cap space to seriously address the teams needs.

An old, feeble rookie GM with no prior front office experience hired a guy who had never coached a game in his life. Pedigree doesn't seem to have helped them do their jobs well.

You're making up your mind a bit prematurely. His best hand will be played this summer. Nothing he had in front of him was more important than this summer was going to be.

I don't disagree with that. This Summer is his shot at doing anything all. He'll need all the luck he can get. Maybe the gods will shine on the franchise. That's what it will take. Lord knows, Phil needs it, because he is going up against GMs who are far superior to him. So good luck Phil.

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!

phil's best move was pulling the plug on this debacle early.... which has given us the opportunity to get a really good player in this year's draft... waiting any longer on it would have been disastrous to our chances...

He pulled the plug when signed odom, traded tyson, then hired some yes puppets, signed players to one yr deals, and did not extend anyone not name melo. Then implementing a system catered to jordan, kobe, shaq and pip. Dude he didnt just pull the plug, he torch the entire house, for one draft pick, while other atlantic division teams have just as much money and multiple 1st rnd draft picks.

You think he's going to come close to making the knicks relevant next yr by drafting a 19 yr old kid, and bringing in a few 2nd tier rejects, because tHats what he has shown us he's capable of doing.

When woodson was going through his struggles, he showed him zero love, and he hasn't build a relationship with any player that played for the knicks this season not name melo

Phil's been in basketball for since the 60s and has an idea how to build a team. Kind of tough to judge a first year GM with no picks, cap space and only albatross players to work with. This year the options are much different. Judging is premature.

This is great... why bring anything new to the table? If I just say the same thing over and over its clearly true. BTW.. I have no skin in the game.

It's been hijacked by the same bandits. They are currently on the loose, since Phil was hired. They are known for terrorizing innocent Knick fans….while spreading evil judgmental slurs and slander.

The worst part is now there are two variables that can kill a thread, Melo hate and Phil hate. Not sure how either topic fits into a discussion about the draft.
same poster... what was this thread about? Yawn.
