yea... and he's a gem between the ears. Exactly the type of kid you want to start building a franchise around

I think that we need to pick before Philly to get him.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

What I like about Russel and how he is used at OSU is that I can easily envision him in the triangle. Even though he is a featured player and plays with the ball a lot you see he can play off the ball. I like seeing his calmness coming of screens to shoot or the back door cuts that lead to easy points at the rim.

I think your right. With Nerlons and Embid in the mix they need a bigtime guard.

They got rid of MCW (and IMHO, rightfully so) because he was a Rondo light/like and inefficient.

They very strongly believe in analytics and statistical models.

Russell is a sabermetric dream.

Great 3 point Shooter
Good mid range game
Good rebounding guard
Very Unselfish
Great Foul Shooter

He is their guy. People say Mudiay but I say no freakin way. They don't want another guard who can do everything but shoot the damn ball.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

This kid Russell is definitely a special player. He is very cerebral with a shooting touch and dribbling ability that is very rare in the league. If he were to be selected by the Knicks, the coach would definitely have to get on him to take over game, because I believe he is a little too passive; which can also be a great asset playing with a scorer like Carmelo.

A lineup of Russell and Shved in the back court would cause havoc for the opposing team. Two 6'6" guards who can penetrate with good court awareness. That would be a much needed upgrade from what we had the last couple of years

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Yeah, Philly would absolutely take Russell number one overall if they get the number one pick.

What if it is Minnesota? They already invested big money in Rubio.

Was thinking that Towns would be a perfect fit for them with Wiggins and Zach Levine. Have KG teach Towns the ropes.

edit: of course, I think the outside fan's perspective is that Okafor makes the most sense for the Knicks. Which I can see, but I personally do not agree with. He'd be third on my board behind Towns and D'Angelo Russell.

OH is going to get creamed, but you can see how Russell looks against NBA caliber wings. Stanley Johnson is a top 5 on a lot of draft boards, and I have Arizona as the team to knock off KY

it will be interesting. They ran 2 guys at him everytime he touched the ball. He didn't get a lot of assists but the guy is so crafty and smooth. Rather than pass he would draw the doubles further and further out egging them on then swing the ball for an open look. If he teammates were better they would have won that game by 15 and Russell would have had ZERO assists, but facilitated every play. Im pretty enamored. Plus he's a lefty like me. 1-20. More creative. Outside the box. He's a team first guy also. Good with being the leader but knows its 5-5. This is who I want to build my future around

Ha Ha, I'm a lefty too. I like to make people think Im a righty at first when I play bball, then start going left. Like you said in your last post, Russell put up a "quiet" 28', has an impact without having one of his better games. Melo is the present, having a floor general with Russell's skill set would give us a bright future. No player that Ive seen who might be drafted can make other players better the way he does, that's a rare commodity.

I think NBA teams are going to be all about Towns & Ok4 as they go deep into the tourney.

If Russell somehow singlehandedly upsets Arizona the country will be going nuts for him

I think that we need to pick before Philly to get him.

Philly is said to be going for Mudiay. Larry Brown is advising the Sixers. According to Larry Brown Mudiay is the best PG he has seen in a long time and recruited him. Calipari was also recruiting Mudiay. Mudiay will be the better of the two.

I think they are two different players. Mudiay is a PG with SG size to defend both positions. Russell is a SG with PG skills....As they evolve into their NBA career both are going to show their differences even more. And they might switch rolls over time......but Mudiay is a dynamic explosive guard which is the way the nba is going. Russell is an old school guard that will have a longer career because he doesnt rely on his athleticism to impact the game. Mudiay does.

I like them both personally.....But for Phils system Russell is the better pick.

But picking Russell over Towns is a hard thing to do......players like Towns dont grow on trees. They dont come around too much. Ok4 and Russell types do.

Towns could be as good as Dennis Rodman with defense and rebounding....and as good as any big man on offense due to his current shooting touch and back to the basket moves hes still developing. Towns is not even close to being a finish product...These other guys are already close to their ceiling.....Just my own personal opinion.
