That's true when you consider Melo would be the only starter on many clubs.
Other than the possibility players like Acy, Wear and Cole develop further and can be retained cheap as bench players, the only 3 players I'm actually interested in seeing how they pan out are Shump, THJ & Early (and Thannasis in Westchester).
I include Shump because I have not given up on him and think he may turn it around and be a valuable player. Then he may be called a quality starter if he performs on both ends this season.
And THJ & Early are not guaranteed to starter quality, though I'm pretty sure Timmy will stick in the league with at least 6th man potential.
Its not a talent laden club, so yeah Amare is not the downfall at this point. The club is not in contention this year and then he's gone. The talent level and cohesion has been lacking for a while. Amare is an expensive rental at this point, flaws or not.
