Most people loved the early pick it was a great value pick considering we had no picks 2 days prior.. Its nice melo liked early pick but i doubt Phil was looking for his approval

I agree but it was in the context of Melo and phil having connected. Broussard mentioned Melo knowing and being ok with the Tyson trade at the same time.

Even if he hated the tarde it wouldnt matter because it was a very good trade for us. I dont mind melo coming back as long as he understands he has to do it Phil's way

I am not sure if he is coming back but what has been stated by several in the media is that Phil and Melo are having a dialogue about what moves Phil is making. I also heard today that Phil has told Melo that he will give him the max if that is what it takes to have him return.

Actually Phil has said quite a few times that Melo has to take less. I respect Phil because he wont bend over for anybody. I dont wnat to turn this into another melo thread because god knows we have too many. getting back to Early i think he will do well. Not saying he will be a all-star but i think he will be a good rotation player and along with larkin and hardaway finally give us some youth

Windhorst said tonight that Phil has already told Melo he would give him the max if that is what it takes.

I think Phil said he challenged Melo to take less like Melo said he would if it helped the Knicks contend.

I think this is gonna be Shumps year. No more negative mind games and awful playing out of position with no role. If he plays like a SF this year at least he'll have a role in the offense and stay involved. Phil said he wants to push the ball and make defenses have defend a more aggressive offense. I think Shump will do better in that kind of offense.

I thought that side deal Dolan made with JR to start and Woody saying those negative things about Shump early on made for a really awful chemistry. I think Shump was boosted by positive words from Phil and that's why he's been in great spirits all off season. He's been working hard on his offense and I think he sees a new role for himself due to Phil.

I put some of it on Woodson for doing an atrocious job of communicating with Iman, but I also put it on Shump for not showing any real improvement in his game except for his 3pt shooting. More than anything I want to see him take it to the rim and not get discouraged if he gets stopped. The only way he is going to be more comfortable doing that is repetition. Could be ugly at first but he won't get any better if he doesn't try.

He was wearing his jersey at the Liberty game which shows how much Iman enjoys and is proud to be a Knick. Just want to see that translate on the court this season and in the time he spends filling the holes in his game. Hope it does.

Well one thing that the Triangle helps is that the off ball motion is cuts and slashes to the basket or curls into open jumpers. Shump will have an easier time getting off in a system like this. It's not all on his individual creativity and handle. This will also benefit Early and THJ. Less ball pounding and more moving and getting the ball on he move to the rim or for pull ups. If you can create for yourself, GREAT, but the offense helps to create scoring opps for you so it's a role players best friend.

I agree that the triangle will make things easier on him but there is no excuse for a pro baller, an SG, not being able to take his man off dribble, or get by his man in transition, not this far into his career. They did ISOs when Jackson was coaching the Bulls, and Im sure they will to some extent when Fisher is coaching, not nearly as much as in the past Im sure. Shump needs to be ready.

Yes you do still need to be able to get by your man. I've seen that he's specifically working on his dribble drive, 1st step, pull ups etc. He's looked much smoother, cleaner handle, finishing stronger and quicker from the videos i've seen. very hopeful about this year for him. I think the talent is there and he had no health issues to slow him down this summer.

Thats great to hear Nix. I agree Iman could be a special player if he can become more versatile.

I'm getting so excited about the young players we've accumulated. Early fills a need for a legit SF and I really can't wait to see Shane, CE, THJ, Shump etc out on the break. We've got a lot of added speed and athletic ability. CE is a smooth player and he's not scared of the big stage. Love that he's a NY guy on top of that.

Yeah it'll be such a fun thing to see a team with a future and upside. Good group of young players that have talent and just need great coaching n development. It's gonna be nice to see them in a system.
