"Duke north!"

Congrats Briggs! Im sure you had a blast the last few weeks!

99 was when Uconn won their first title...I believe the Cliff Robinson team won the NIT in '88. Duke North? Nah, the way things have gone lately, Duke, I'm sure aspires to be "Uconn south"...

The thing with Uconn is we rarely get any Mcdonald All Americans or top 15 type recruits. Weve had a few but mostly we recruit the secondary kid and theyve always put a lot of emphasis on the Pg's. If you can get two or even three of those types--real good PG youre versatility and control of the game stays very high. Also having guys stay multiple years--they befriend each other--work hard to become better is a factor with the good tough coaching. Ollie is a throw back coach and at 41 hes got a 25 year career ahead of him.

I know its the college game versus the pros--but watching a really tough basketball team year after year shows you want you want your NBA team to look like--how its coached etc.. Mental toughness should be a very strong focus going 4ward with the Knicks.

I agree Briggs. That makes it so much greater that UConn can so consistantly win. It's also why I can't root against KY. They try to get the top HS players on their team and then send them to the Pro's. KY isn't about developing the kids as much as it is about stacking the deck.

I think it shows how overrated McDonald's All-Americans can be. Duke has recruited the most Micky D All Americans since 2000 and it's record developing pros has just been OK. Even with UConn's HS All Americans, the results haven't always been spectacular. There are tons talented kids out there who just need to develop physically and get coached up. The Butlers and Gonzagas of the world prove it every year.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick
