I think Darren Collison is a lot better player than some are giving him credit for on this thread. Pretty big upgrade over Ray Felton imho, even before Felton hit rock bottom this year. I personally think Collison is starter material -- you give this guy starter mins, he gives us close to what Kyle Lowry or Jeff Teague are giving their clubs, maybe more. I don't think either one of those guys are head & shoulders above Collison...Come on -- Collison isn't capable of something like 16 & 7 with 30-something mins per? I think he is...Now if they don't want Felton, I can understand that -- asking them to take 1 severely underperforming guard is asking a lot. Felton's a vet and is what he is pretty much and he makes a little money; Shump's cheaper, younger and still has upside, so I can see the attraction...Shump's supposedly the guy they want, so there's something here. I kinda like this deal the best out of the few we've heard so far, better than Lowry or Teague. Collison/Bullock feels like better value than either of those guys by themselves...Can't get discouraged if they don't want Felton -- Keep working on it....Swap out Felton for Beno Udrih maybe. Udrih's been awful too but maybe they'd find him more appealing. His contract is certainly a hell of a lot more favorable and despite his poor play for us, I think he still has the reputation as a pretty good player around the league...Would they do that deal -- Udrih/Shumpert for Collison/Bullock? Do we throw in a sweetner -- cash, Tyler, Aldrich, Murry, a future 2? Gotta check to see if the salaries work...

Collision played well for the Hornets and Indiana. His percentages are great. I had the dude in my fantasy team and I remember being pissed because they kept benching him. But then an injury would Halen and he would put together some huge games. While with the Hornets Chris Paul was hurt and collision was putting up Chris Paul numbers. Check the game logs if you want.

This guy is on the level of a Teague. So if we could steal him then Thank you sweet baby Jesus

Exactly. I remember those games well for the Hornets. He was the talk of the league back then. I go back to UCLA with this kid -- I loved that team: Collison, Afflalo, Josh Shipp. Collison always had great speed, he's a real PG, he can score and I always remember him as a standout defender in college. I liked Teague a lot at Wake -- thought he'd blow up big-time in the NBA but he really hasn't. He's having a decent year in ATL, nothing Earth-shattering... And Lowry, come on -- good player having a career year. This guy was basically a career backup coming into this year. Darren Collison is definitely on par with either one of these guys, maybe better. No question about it in my book..

It makes the Knicks a little better without sacrificing longterm cap space. It's far from a panic move. Getting Teague would be a panic move.

Shump has a higher ceiling than all of these guys..Shump's issue is mental and he has been reading his offseason press clippings..He really has to so the work...I won't trade Shump for these guys..

Trade Shump for a Lowry who can be a foundation with Melo...Can't trade him for a Collison who is really a back up..

Woody a coach who plays him out of position and benches him often in favor of JR Smith. I'd love to see him with a real coach, a defensive minded coach (who would place him man on man and not move him all over). Just for a little while. I feel like we devalued him so much and now want to trade him while devalued.

Doc Rivers once said of the whole Knick roster, the player he wanted was Shump. So a much better coach, sees value.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Latest Knicks buzz: Hearing Knicks' long-running chase of Kenneth Faried now trending toward simpler swap of Beno Udrih for Jordan Hamilton

Which would suggest Knicks & Clips getting closer to THEIR deal now that Matt Barnes expected to take Reggie Bullock's place in final form
As we reported earlier today: Knicks telling teams they will NOT part with Shumpert unless you furnish a first-rounder or take back Felton

Im happy the Knicks are seeking a 1st round pick for Shump. Hey it only took 15 years but the Knicks finally figured out that 1st round picks are kind of valuable

If they take out Reggie Bullock for Barnes I am not so sure about the trade anymore. Bullock gave us a good shooter and a piece for the future. Barnes I am not so sure about. He is a good player for a team that is near contender status. Collison and Barnes does not make us contenders.

Doc Rivers remembered what Shump did against pierce and Wade in the playoffs

Yup. This deal might be off the table. This might mean Linsanity 2.0 might actually happen. Clippers will not want JR Smith. Knicks better not trade THJr

Also keep in mind our perimeter defense will go from bad to atrocious without Shumpert

in-freakin-credible.
This franchise is just dumb, top to bottom. We knew shumpert was being traded whether it was to the clippers for colison, cleveland for waiters, toronto for lowry. We knew by thursday at 3 he would have a new address.
AND THEY STILL LET HIM PLAY!

We are beyond moronic- his hip injury was the perfect excuse not to play him, why the f*** would you play a guy who's been playing badly, has an injury, is injury prone, and whom you're determined to trade?! Stupid, stupid, stupid...
