Its a brutal roster, no doubt, not the coaches fault. When the two biggest deals you make in a decade (let david lee go instead overpay by a zillion for uninsured Amare (and use amnesty idiotically elsewhere), and, the trade for a scoring-gifted, but limited, Melo, your team is not going to be good. That being said, i stand by my view that this coach has zero offensive strategy, a defensive strategy which isn't working, and a late and close tactical deficiency (Melo 1 for 20? late) that is hardly helping.
Would rather watch a talent-overmatched team play with a sound system than for a team for which the 'roster is flawed' excuse is implicitly used to allow for non-coaching.
Woodson is hardly the only, or, even the primary problem, but, for those who defend, what does he do?
18-6
54-28
What is his playoff record with us?
Playoffs???
18-6 team limped into the playoffs. Took everything they got into it. Baron knee crumbled as did Shumps. No guard play. Amare was returning and cut his hand.
54-28.......Again by seasons end our guard play was cooked. Amare was a shell of him self, Kidd was cooked, and JR lost his mind. First time in 14 years knicks won a series. You really think they had a chance against Indy? 54 wins WAS a good job. A very good job to coach those wins.
One can look at the roster and think the glass half full and be suprised they could amass 54 wins. One might say the coach did a hell of a job. Another can look at it and think we could have advanced at least one more round.
This year our guard play has not just declined, its bloody awful!
No doubt this team makes a coach look bad. Why? Personal.
Is it the coach? Not saying its not all on him, but dude coaches his ass off for two years and then this season and fans think a change will do good? Like, ANY CHANGE WILL DO GOOD? No mention of a replacement or install a new schematic but "woodson sucks" and thinking his removal alone is the magic.
Looks more like fans are emotionally distraught. I get that.
