I think it's wonderful to have found a forum in which only selfless monks post- it seems like most of the people up in arms on this thread are uninterested in material wealth. If they were offered $30million or so, they would refuse it in order to be loyal. If all they had to do was pretend they were leaving their current job and they would get a significant pay rise, they would all refuse and would instead work for less in order to make a stand against greed.

It's really heart warming stuff.

you don't understand order of magnitude, powers of ten. it can't be about needing the money since he is wealthy beyond anything you can conceive. he will have earned over 230 million when all is said and done. it's about ego and hubris and greed. it's also about not facing the fact that he is a loser... maybe this is what drives him to pursue as much money as possible.

can't wait to see what this clown does next.

No, you don't understand that you can spend that money is this lifetime and quickly too..U don't seem to understand what property/school taxes are like in NYS, Conn, and CA are like..What it cost to take G5's across the country and to the Caribbean...What it cost for maintenance in luxury Manhattan buildings...Not only having a high income is important but the proper investment/retirement plan/ spending plan..70% of athletes go broke...That money can be spent and will be spent..

Oh man, please tell me this is a joke...

The man owns a fortune of hundreds of millions and you're talking about taxes. Simply unfathomable. The reason nba players burn through their pay checks is because a lot of them are not very bright, it has nothing to do with not having enough money. They'd spend all their money regardless of how much they made. You're worried about whether the dude can pay for maintenance on his 4th G5 plane, I'm sorry I just can't even believe such a ridiculous argument was even considered, let alone brought into the conversation.

Taxes, we talking about taxes man, I mean we talking about taxes over here?! -Allen Iverson

So just because he has a few expenses no dollar amount is ever bigger enough? That makes literally no sense. If Melo is one of the players you mentioned that has piss poor spending habits he will go broke with a billion dollars...it's not more money he would need but rudimentary financial consulting.

I was originally responding to dk7 post that I didnt understand that he has made more money than he could possibly spend...I was just informing him it is not impossible to spend 200 mil..Mike Tyson did it before he was 35 years old...

I'm not concerned about Melo or how much he makes. It is interesting that now, all of a sudden, he wants to test free agency and yet that thought was unfathomable in 2011. I got no problem with a player getting their money but I got a problem with self-centeredness. We could've traded for CP3 with the assets we gave up for Melo during that 2010-2011 season but he needed top dollar then. Now, we're in a position to sign 3 big free agents in 2015 and he's still posturing for the biggest payday he can get. As a Melo fan and ardent supporter of his game, this really disappoints me.

holfresh what i said was he will have made more money than you can conceive of. i know of the adage "the deeper the wallet the greater the needs" so i can see how someone could sympathize with athletes blowing through money and ending up broke. boo ****ing hoo!!! you are really making a terrible argument for the guy. not everyone who makes that kind of money needs to live in opulence. if they live beyond their means no matter who they are it shows a lack of maturity, a lack of character, a lack of values or maybe the possession of false values.

whatever it is, there is NO WAY that you can justify him being awarded a max contract if the knicks have any hopes of title aspirations.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I don't think title asperation have anything to do with him but all to do with who he is surrounded with..U swap out Amare with CP3 today and we are a title contender...

I like Melo, and I would like to see him stay as a Knick but he is not worth max money. Lebron gets paid less and to me that is the bench mark. I really don't care if Lebron took less because of the big three, the point is he took less and he is the best player in the league. So how is Melo worth more than Lebron?

Melo really can't afford to take the public relations hit running out MDA would effect.

Lakers suck this year its because Kobe did not return.

What will Kobe do anyway? Play one, maybe two years? Howz that gonna work out?

MDA has two years left. No big deal he gets canned, but Melo can't really run him out of two franchises and not get bad publicity.

And WHo says Lakers are in a positon to win? What is the state of their roster?

So while he can sleep with wife, he makes less coin and is in a rebuilding situation.
