Better than not caring.

Rockets better than knicks now?

but, most of the guys bitching and moaning about the state of the Knicks are saying that being good isn't enough, that you all want a chip but, then to support your argument you say the Rocketts are better now? They didn't win it last season, do I see them winning this upcoming season. Until Linn does more than make a cameo appearance in the post season, until his play makes a difference WHEN IT MATTERS, then he and his supporters better get used to threads like this.

Houston got potentially an 8 to 10 year window to build a championship team when they acquired a 23 year old franchise player with only 3 years of 6th man minutes and wear and tear.

Is Harden only 23? When talking franchise players, the only people on that team that fit the bill are Harden and Howard. The rest are role players, some of whom can't even consistently play their roles

He was 23 when they acquired him. That's what I was referring to. He's 24 now.

your calling LINN a franchise player???? Wow, I know you are more intelligent than that Bonn.

No, Harden is. I was explaining the apparent contradictory treatment you identified earlier of Houston and NY by some here. They have a young franchise player and a big window to win a championship.

woo, had me worried, always considered you one of top 4 most intelligent posters here (imo) even . I kid a lot about Linn mainly to pay back the Gallo and Linn fans for subjecting me to so much of their angst. I wish we could have kept him and I think he will be a better than average guard once he figures a few things out but, he is not as good as some are billing him.

Harden IS a franchise level talent in my humble opinion. With the addition of Howard, yeah, they are a threat with a very, very bright future.

I think if you put Felton on that Houston team last year, they would have had a better season than they did. The stats are close and the fact that Felton played far more and and was available in the post season. Guys are HATING on a current Knick because of one that isn't here anymore. REMARKABLE.

hahaha. Yeah, I was a bit vague. Lin played pretty well in the 2nd half of the season last year and I think he'll put up at least those #s again - unless McHale benches him.

Jeremy Lin is ready to move on from a disappointing season with the Houston Rockets.

Speaking at a youth conference in Taiwan, Lin gave a candid assessment of his first season in Houston, claiming that Rockets coaches lost confidence in him due to his inconsistent play.

"I became so obsessed with becoming a great basketball player ... trying to be Linsanity, being this phenomenon that took the NBA by storm," Lin told a crowd of approximately 20,000 at the Dream Big, Be Yourself youth conference in Taipei, Taiwan.

"The coaches were losing faith in me; basketball fans were making fun of me. ... I was supposed to be joyful and free, but what I experienced was the opposite. I had no joy, and I felt no freedom."

Lin admitted during the youth conference that he placed extremely high expectations on himself upon joining the Rockets.

"I was ready to invigorate the entire city of Houston," he said. "I was supposed to save Houston basketball."

Lin was one of Houston's marquee acquisitions prior to last season. Following a breakout 2011-12 campaign with the New York Knicks, he signed a three-year, $25 million deal to join the Rockets.

But Lin struggled, averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 assists a game, and battled injuries that forced him to miss two games in Houston's playoff-round loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Lin went as far to say that he experienced "emptiness, confusion and misery" at points last season.

"The one thing I learned was how empty fame and worldly success really are. ... The desire for success never stopped," Lin said. "If the voice that you listen to the most isn't God's voice, then eventually you will experience that emptiness, confusion and misery that I felt when I listened to the voice of Linsanity."

Lin, a devout Christian, told the crowd that he has leaned on his faith in order to reassess his basketball career and his future.

The Rockets will be counting on Lin, who will turn 25 on Friday, to help lead an emerging team that features newly acquired star center Dwight Howard and All-Star guard James Harden.

God, this dude is so phucking full of himself. God this, faith that, misery, confusion...waaaaaahhh!

"I was supposed to save Houston basketball."

Sounds like a 5 star toolbag.

He really should focus on hitting the gym, do 5000 left handed drives and layups. and not suck so much that Patrick Beverley and Toney Douglas are better point guard options on the roster.

Personally i think you are overreacting a little. You have to right to love/hate any player you want but lin seems like a good kid. Also like someone said before this was basically his first full year and he wasnt bad at all. he will get better

How is he full of himself, Houston pd him franchise money, obviously your under pressure to perform up to that contract, plus being the highest paid player on the team at the time..

You have to know that houston pump his head to the stars in order for him not consider the knicks.. Houston was the one calling him a franchise player.

i thought Lin try as hard as he could (when linsanity was at it's highest) to divert the attention to his teammates in every single post game press conference.

You couldn't be so wrong about a player full of himself..try going through what he went through practically over night..This dude didn't just have the city, coast or country rooting for him the entire world..think thats not going to fck your head up some..

He seemed TOO CAUGHT UP in trying to be a star instead of focusing on becoming a very good basketball player.

In some ways it could be said that Linsanity was the worst thing that could of happened to him. But...then again, if it had not happened, he might have NEVER gotten the chance to show that he belonged.

I wonder what could have been. If D'Antoni had given him a few chances earlier in the season, (especially since we weren't really going anywhere) the team might have recognized that he was a good player. He might not have become so overhyped and Houston might not have been so determined to get him.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Comparing a role player to a franchise player! You never cease to amaze me...

you know what that kind of logic is just silly.. now what does this have to do with what kind of player they are.. show me where I made a comparison of a so called "franchise" player, with a role player.. what was the comparison? . I mean you do understand what a comparison is.. right..

are you telling me we can't compare what they said? really? that is just asinine and you know it, or you should!!

The rockets got lin to be more than just a role player, so please just stop with the silly semantics..... and focus on what was said... isn't that what we are doing?

what amazes me is when you have nothing else to say, you throw out the " you are comparing a role player to a franchise player".. NO... read what is being said, if you can't understand or follow the conversation, why bother to respond with such a condescending tone when in fact it makes you look ridiculous...

He was in the news, was a Knick last year, so it's relevant.

He made some revealing statements, but for a Harvard grad had some really dumb lines like "I was supposed to save Houston basketball." like he's some franchise player.

Stop trying to play forum police Starks, it looked corny when you were IrishKnicks and whatever moniker you were before that.

The problem with tkf is, he's sure there has to be some other player on this team that's the superstar or the franchise. In MeloHateWorld, a guy struggling to outplay someone like Toney Douglas or Patrick who-the-fuhuck Beverly after a 15 minute burst of NY fame has all the same rights to say the same things and has the same credibility as a 10 year NBA veteran, scoring champion, 6-time all star, #3 pick in the draft, NCAA champion, and currently ranked #12 among active players to get into the HOF.

Logic, it's a beautiful thing.

no it is not ridiculous.. Houston brought him in and made him one of the highest paid players on the team.. so how is that ridiculous? He felt he was bought in to save Houston basketball, who knows what the heck was said to lin. maybe he is putting undue pressure on himself... I think it may have been a bit presumptuous on his behalf, but to call him a tool is ridiculous... again, this attacking former knick players is clearly an attempt to make oneself feel good about the direction this team is going... to me it comes off as if you constant have to convince yourself that you like what the knicks are doing..

If Lebron, Durant, CP3, or Kobe says what Melo said, you wouldn't bat an eye. It's what superstars or franchise players are supposed to say.

so what you are saying is, role player as you call him, are supposed to say "we" while star players can say "I"...

ok, whatever.. LOL

You couldn't be so wrong about a player full of himself..try going through what he went through practically over night..This dude didn't just have the city, coast or country rooting for him the entire world..think thats not going to fck your head up some..

He didn't say, "We" he said "I was supposed to save Houston basketball."

Even before Harden came aboard, what about Asik, Parsons, Smith, Delfino, etc?

Lol good try tkf.

If Lebron, Durant, CP3, or Kobe says what Melo said, you wouldn't bat an eye. It's what superstars or franchise players are supposed to say.

When Lin says he's "Houston Savior", he sounds stupid. He's not even the best point guard on the team...

Logic, it's a beautiful thing.

in jrod fantasy world only do people point count rec league championships, HS championships , towards their pro career..

only in Jrod fantasy world are people supposed to get on their knees for where they were drafted and not what they have done... guess what, darko was drafted #2, so what does that mean...

In MeloHateWorld, a guy struggling to outplay someone like Toney Douglas or Patrick who-the-fuhuck Beverly after a 15 minute burst of NY fame has all the same rights to say the same things and has the same credibility

if a quote is stupid, it is just stupid.. right.. .ok so why should it matter what one does outside of their quotes?

selfish is selfish, right? a tool is a tool..

As far as ridiculous, you've looked that way in the forum since February of 2011.

no it is not ridiculous..

LOL

Pre-Harden, isn't Lin getting paid the same amount as Asik? Asik is the first one that got signed by Houston, and Lin has the balls to say "He has to save Houston basketball?"

A bit pretentious much, don't you think?

Where as Melo is clearly supposed to simultaneously be praised/blamed fairly and unfairly due to being "The Man" in New York.

Clearly you rank Lin in the same pantheon as superstars such as Gallinari (LOLOL).

Pathetic.

Relevant in what way? Lin is a player on a different team and his quote is actually much different from Melo's as well. Not to mention what Melo said in the quote you provided is true anyway. Lebron can actually say the same thing about losing in Miami and I dont think that makes him a toolbag in that regard.
