It seems like every time Lin cracks twenty points a thread like this starts. The last time you did this Syniko you said that Lin would have signed for anything to stay in NY because he loved the city so much. Not sure why this is coming up again but Lin got a lot of money to play in Houston and his contract was structured so that it would be nearly impossible for the Knicks to match it in the new cba. In addition the guy fired his agent and went with a high powered firm and sat out of the USA Select Team workouts because of his upcoming free agency. When asked about resigning with the Knicks Lin's new agent said, I don't know enough about the situation yet to comment. Doesn't sound like a guy representing someone who's heart is set on staying in NY.

Lin walked... Dolan is a proud man but Lin also pulled a Carlos Boozer. He's going to make more than Rondo in 2014/15. Lin got paid and good for him. But watch Houston have to keep paying him more than Rondo, Lin gets hurt, and become the next Allan Houston.

......ooooorrrrrr Lin doesn't get hurt and him and Harden turn out to be one of the best front court duos in the league for years to come. Should've never let him go!

This is comical. Lin's value is not his poison pill year salary it's going to be closer to his salary cap value/hit which is approximately $8mil that's if he continues with natural progression, so no he won't be making $11mil+/yr.....like Rondo after 2014/15....lol

Lin makes 8 mil a year for the rockets because of new rules for teams under the cap. He had a poison pill year that prevented the Knicks from resigning him. This thread is a little ridiculous. The title says the Knicks traded away Lin. The reality is Lin fired his agent and his new agent negotiated a great deal for Lin that because of the new cba prevented the Knicks from resigning him.

The CBA didn't prevent us from signing him....we declined signing him and instead chose to sign Felton....prevent is Stern vetoing an already agreed upon trade. The CBA made our choices more difficult but that's what happens when you don't plan. Everyone was shooting their wad when the arbitrator ruled in Novak and Lin's favor I saw it as a potential to make things even more dicey and that it did.

IF THE KNICKS WANTED LIN THEY WOULD'VE LOCKED HIM UP RATHER THAN HAVE HIM ACCEPT OFFERS. The Kid wanted to be here and it was the KNICKS who told him to go get offers. If he was our 1st rd pick would we be telling him to go get offers 1st and then we'd look to match? NO ONE does that with a player they value as key to their future. Clearly the Knicks didn't value him. The Knicks capologists knew the possibility existed for there to be a poison pill contract offer if they let him shop around. So why risk it unnecessarily? In the end the Knicks never made an offer to Lin.

I think the Knicks would have retained Lin if the arbitrator didn't grant him his early bird rights.

If Lin were here you wouldn't be happy with him unless we had Lin and Felton. Literally the only difference between the two is that Lin didn't break his hand. D'Antoni upped Lin's game just like he's done with every other point guard just because the usage rate of D'antoni point guards is so high.

It's not just the usage rate, but the fact that he uses the PnR and a spread floor to help the PG to get open and have room to either score or dish. This would make any PG better. If that PG happens to have great quickness that really allows you to get to the basket more effectively. Lin was a good fit in that style of BB. Lin needed a lot more time to learn to be a bit more patient and make better passes. The longer he had to learn under MDA the better he would've gotten at making the right decisions with the ball and not always forcing the issue.
Originally Woody was gonna move away from the MDA style to his preferred ISO, but with STAT being hurt they were forced to play more spread offense with the 3pt shot taking on greater importance. If Lin were still here, he would've been very successful in this style.

Totally true, especially considering that the new CBA wasn’t preventing the Knicks from offering 30 million dollar to Steve Nash in a sign and trade deal. Imaging how much penalty tax the Knicks would have paid for that contract, yet they were willing to do it anyway.

1. When was Jeremy Lin conversation ever valid? Oh yeah, exactly a year ago..
2. There was no 'trade'. Jimmy Dol just let him go for nothing. We got absolutely nothing of value for him, contradicts the definition of a trade.
3. It was Jimmy Dol's ego vs Jimmy Dol's business sense. Oh wait, he doesn't have business sense. Hence Jeremy Lin is gone, and so's the Asian fanbase in Asia.

Dude. 3 years at a little over $8M in cap hit. Nowhere near close to Allan territory. Boozer situation also a little off. Cavs did not have any options. Knicks did.

CAN YOU please elaborate how he pulled a carlos boozer? what did lin do, that was similar to what boozer did at all?

Ding Ding Ding. Knicks should have offered the full MLE and not let this go beyond. Signing Lin for a little over $5M a year for 5 years would have been perfect.
