And I disagree that Shump doesn't have Spree physical gifts,

have you seen Shump sky for the slam dunks?? Guy is out of his mind, he's out of this world, he's in outer space!!

Spree was pretty dynamic on a fast break. He had an exceptional amount of power & energy in the way he finished. He could also twist/contort his body to score around the basket. Shump is not quite on that level. They're just different players.

and Fish you are 100% correct. Don't get too attach. That would be a tough one to take considering he's been my favorite knicks since that interview after draft day

Shump isn't even close to the finisher Spree was "YET." I can see him getting there but, he hasn't been putting the Spree Tomahawk down and rarely dunks the ball (going back to last season) though he will try from time to time. He doesn't even slash as much as Spree did but I can see the comparison.

I said Shump is a stronger finisher in the HALFCOURT. Spree was faster in the open court but wasn't strong enough to be dunking on people in the halfcourt

Both he and Spree at 6'5. But I see more Wade offensively. Defensively Shump and Spree like to get steals. Shump might actually become a better shooter

Spree did live and die with that pull up j in the half court, but he was lethal at times. Shared the record for 9 threes in a row at one point. And I don't see quite the same level of agression offensively in Shump that was evident in Spree early on in his career, that got more pronounced later. It's only been two years, but Spree also didn't miss this many games to injury. Games missed due to stupidity, yes, but for someone as light as he was, Spree was the ultimate in durability. Led the league in minutes one year.

I agree, Spree could elevate like he was on springs, he could dunk with one or two feet planted. Didnt need a running start, could drive right under the rim before elevating straight up for a monster dunk.

Both Spree and Shump are both relentless competitors, they attack the rim and take pride in their D.
Shump needs to improve his footwork which was a big part of what made Spree so hard to stop and develop a consistent jumper.

again, when i started this post i compared shump to spree because of his defense, streaky shooting and attacking the rim. his mannerisms, career or whatever might not match up i guess.. i just cant remember the last time there was a knick player where each time he penetrates he would assault the rim. its exciting to watch because you never know what hell do
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better
