Why do you insist on rehashing the past?

Are you watching him represent the United States right now?

Sheesh.

Your a true fan Mrearl. It's Olympics I don't get excited about 6-6 vs Tunisia or Niger. Melo always smiles skinny or fat and that means absolutely diddly.

The idea is to get better, right?

VMart - it is August. If you prefer that your basketball players to play video games and chill at the mall, rather than work on their game and represent their country - we will simply have to agree to disagree.

It's not just The Olympics, it is a dress rehearsal for the regular season, with the best players on the planet, coached by hall of fame minds. Do you really think Carmelo cannot learn anything from Coach K and his all-star staff?

What better pickup games could you find?

@usabasketball: In case you were wondering ... Melo's 37 points came in 14 minutes. No, that's not a typo.

KD and Melo are NOT the same class of player. Thats what kills these "discussions" and drives them into anti-melo hater threads. In 54 playoff games MElo shoots a Jamal Crawford like .419, but his trolls here would leave you to believe its just the supporting cast and Melo = Kobe, Durant, etc etc

Durant isnt selfish because his team is one of the best in the league and thats proven. Dudes an MVP caliber player. If people are expecting Melo to be an MVP thats an unfair expectation. He's never shown in the league he's that caliber of player. Not even really in the discussion. Melo once finished 6th in MVP voting. He's never cracked the top 10 aside from that. Durant's last 3 years he was 2,5 and 2 in MVP voting. Next best player to Lebron.

Can we please stop putting Melo in these discussions? This is just reality. Im not saying Melo cant be a winner and cant win a title or go deep in the playoffs like your Paul Pierce, Ginobili, etc

Melo is good, but yea... when your shooting .419 in 50+ playoff games and have the league's worst record of any guy to have played in 50 playoff games your being selfish, or doing something wrong. Label it what you want, but the style of play isnt winning.

Durant isn't considered a selfish player becuase his team is one of the best in the league? So Ibaka, Westbrook and Harden have nothing to do with OKC being one of the best teams in the league?

So the when Melo went to the WCF with the most talented team he played on he wasn't a selfish player but all other years he was?

I'm not making a comparison of Melo/Durant..... just find it odd that Melo is considered Mr. Selfish when numberwise both play a similar game.

Number one Melo complaint on this board is Who does Melo make better? With that being the case, what player on OKC does Durant make better?

Ten three's?

Stop It.

I know Earl, I was simply rehashing what the naysayers usually drum about our often criticized prodigal New York son. I'm damn proud of Melo, the work he's putting in this offseason, the representation during the summer games.

37 points in 14 minutes with 10 threes on 13 for 16 shooting is simply remarkable.

so until melos shooting % rises, he's a selfish player. I can argue all day abot supporting cast, but the reality( in your eyes) is that his shooting % hinders the guys around him. A selfish player to me is a player who shots a very low % takes an enormus amount of shots while his teammates shoot above 50% and take very few shots..

This past playoffs, no one on the knicks shot well, not bibby, not Jr, not Amare, not novak, no one..

are you blaming that on melo..

name one player who became better when he joined Melo's team. Please... find me one.

A selfish player to me is a player who shots a very low % takes an enormus amount of shots while his teammates shoot above 50% and take very few shots..
sounds a lot like our franchise player... maybe if you named some players in the league you consider selfish I could discuss this better?

It's not up to melo to make his teammates better, the player that makes his teammate better is a PG and maybe a real good Center..Who does kobe make better,

Ewing didn't make no one better..It's a simple thing, star gets double or triple pass to the open man, if he doesn't make the shot, thats melo's fualt..I don't believs so, and I have certainly seen my share of miss opportunities that plays don't take advantage of playing wit melo.

Ewing didnt make others better? The guy was one of the best defensive players in the league and at center he made everyone better. Kobe and Ewing's teams got out of round 1 enough times didnt they? Right now Melo is almost this generation's Dominique Wilkins (thanks DJ)

Most players can't shoot 19-22 in an empty gym

Things Learned Watching The Olympics

"...one key to playing with Carmelo Anthony is to avoid standing around and watching like you're at the 'theater.'

"You have to be able to move without the basketball, get in the open spots and make the game easier for him. Instead of him having to take tough shots, you penetrate, you get him the ball and start to get him easy shots where he doesn't have to work so hard."

The shrug was nice but the classic "Oh S@#t" was better. lol. I think it was the second quarter when Melo went up for rebound and yelled, "Oh s@#t, that's mine. Get outta here, K-Love."

Can't Wait

yellowboy - Carmelo has patented his timing with Deron Williams off the pick and pop.

Somewhere, Raymond Felton is sweating and smiling.

Tyson Chandler should rest.

KMart goes off on Karl, and the Melo situation

Kenyon Martin wrote:"Man, listen, George needs to keep his mouth shut, first and foremost," Martin said. "Melo don't play there no more. So Karl shouldn't be commenting on Melo. If George was such a great coach, then Melo would want to stay. He wouldn't want to leave.

"If the organization was ran right, he wouldn't want to leave, so it ain't Melo. With Melo, not one time when he was there [in the Nuggets' locker room] did he bring that in the locker room when all that stuff was going on. Not one day. Everybody made it a bigger deal than it had to be. That's a good kid.

"They act like this kid was a cancer, like he came in there and destroyed the locker room and made everybody hate him. No, it wasn't nothing like that man. And it bothers me for people to be talking about how he's a selfish player and he has to defend himself."

"They've got the team they wanted now," Martin said. "They got all us out of there. They didn't offer me an extension, they traded [Anthony], J.R. [Smith] is gone [to New York]. They've got the team they want. So why doesn't [Karl] worry about coaching them and leaving Melo alone -- bottom line? It bothers me for them to keep harping at that."

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Usually I'd have a "Fugazy" comment for KMart, but he's pretty spot on. George Karl is a notorious grudge holder. He's feuded with Kendall Gill, Doc Rivers, Isaiah Thomas, Ray Allen, Big Dog Robinson, JR Smith, and Carmelo Anthony. Karl really should focus on his own team, than run off at the mouth at ex players or coaches. Sounds like a bitch scorned.
