Why on Earth would the Knicks take Lin and then try to trade him? If he gets hurt or doesn't live up to the hype, New York is stuck with the balloon payment they clearly don't want to take on.

Felton has a lot of NBA experience and will probably produce at a 13-7 level, close to his career average. The Knicks need a point guard that can play on a league-average level and got one in Felton at a reasonable salary. Everybody likes Jeremy Lin and Lin has potential, but New York doesn't want to bite the bullet and take on the bad contract, nor should they.

What do you expect him to do? Pull a tantrum in the middle of USA Basketball practices? Like that is gonna help? The guy will still be a Knick and in the NBA you need to develop tough skin because anybody can be traded or in this case not brought back. Melo know live goes on with or without Lin. I usually don't read too much into what Melo says but though those quotes were pretty telling. Another poster listed reasons Melo may not like Lin and I agree he has plenty of reasons not to. I'm not saying he is right or wrong but if he really wanted Lin back I think he would be up front about it. This reminds me of when TO got hurt when the Eagles were on their run to the Super Bowl - nobody endorsed wanting or needing him back because he was not well liked.

Obviously that is a more extreme situation but you know what I mean. Personally, I think the entire thing has been blown way out of proportion and the Knicks would be better served avoiding the Lin media circus altogether so they can focus on basketball.

I just read this article and it seems like Lin making this kind of money could cause chemistry issues within the team. If this happens to be the case I would rather Lin leave. I am a Knicks fan before I am a Lin fan.

Would such a contract NOT ridiculous, especially at a mutliyear deal?

Do the math, add Felton/Kidd and Lin's 3rd year contract COMBINED, and it would the same as Melo and Amare's each year, especially at their peaks, in fact if Melo opts out, he could demand more?

Lin, generates fans and money, and is still a good although not 100% proven PG, but if he even is a decent starting PG, he is well worth that one year IF YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY much taxes!
It is a no brainier that he is still an asset to those teams!

I looking for the long version. Right now all they are showing is the short version but the longer gives a better perspective. Also, he was calling the structure of the deal ridiculous according to Hahn.

It was a bad shot. Plain and simple. Of course it's great when it goes in.

Guy thought he was Agent Zero or something. Stupid plays cost you games. It was a bad play. Plays like that infuriate coaches.

It was annoying when Jamal Crawford did it. It was annoying when Ray Felton did it.
