Love having Camby back. This shows some real commitment to interior defense. What a great combo Camby and Tyson will be. Crap- been trying to get these guys for the last 7-8 years!

It was a lot to give up I think. What are we going to sign and trade for Kidd (or can we?). I think Douglas and Jorts are useful pieces and will do well in Houston.

Getting Camby definitely bolsters our frontcourt D.

It's nice to have him back after all these years.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Think Dolan goes for CP3 next year? That will complete the clusterstarphuck.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

our next 2nd round pick available is 2016

We might get Boston's 2nd round pick next year though, its like top 48 protected or something.

So, we wouldn't really have anything to offer to Dallas, aside from the rights to 2nd rounders from Europe and 2016 1st/2nd pick.

Dallas did Chandler a favor last year, kind of, they got the trade exemption that they wasted on Lamar Odom.

If they trade Kidd to use, they can get a 3m or so exemption, when they are very much under the cap?
So unlikely, that we would have a mini MLE, we going to use it on Kidd.

Morey is a real douche, he couldn't even save us Jordan or Jorts, and had to take both of our 2nd round picks.

+1 thrilled to have Camby back.

agree with the others that our lineup is now stacked and ready to roll. this is it. going for it this year, maybe next year. let's see what happens.

Basically this gives the team legit top tier defense for 48 mins. This team was already pretty good defensively, but now this really can help to sure up the mins when Tyson sits. If we also bring back Jared that will really solidify the D. I really like what Glen has done so far. Now with just a few more minor additions this team will be ready to contend IMO.

It's kind of amazing that Grunwald basically did exactly what he set out to do this off season and then some:

Lin - Check!
Novak - Check!
JR Smith - Check!
Backup PG: Kidd - Check!
Backup Center: Camby (and likely JJ) - Check!
Improve Defense - Check!
umm...athleticism?: James White - Check!

No one saw all of this actually happening...good things usually don't happen for the Knicks.
Can't wait for the season to start already!

good article on camby on the knicks. camby led the league in rebounding percentage last year. and blocks shots at a better rate than tyson chandler. twin towers! no defensive let up.

i only wish shump were healthy to start the season.

You think? I don't understand it. Do they have blackmail pics of Dolan or something?
We gave up some pretty good young guys in Jorts and Jordon, Douglas (who actually was a very good shooter before the injury), money and 2 2nd round picks - FOR A FREE AGENT?
Yeah, it may put us over the top... oh wait, I guess that is the reason for this terrible deal. Sacrifice - I still think we gave up way too much.

I'm Camby Dammit!

“Consider that last season, Camby’s total rebounding percentage was 22.8 percent. That was best in the league: better than Dwight Howard, Kevin Love or any other rebounder you can name. Nor was this an anomaly for Camby; he’s been over 20 percent six different seasons, and he led the league in total rebounding percentage the past three seasons.”
- Howard Medgal

We gave up too much?

Are you kidding? A run-in-circles guard who will not be missed, and a raw, earthbound forward who lived outside too much. Are you kidding me?

Um, yes please. Sure, (Camby) is not equipped to play big minutes a night at this point in his career, but the ability to clean the glass on the 2nd unit, keeping possessions alive for more Novak and JR bombs, all while giving the Knicks an elite defensive presence in the middle when Tyson needs a breather is going to be HUGE for this team. Consider, after the team resigns Jeffries (which seems likely), they can throw a defensive unit of Tyson, Camby, JJ, Shump and Kidd out there when they really need a stop. Just imagine that length on the interior… Jay Bilas just blacked out from the mere thought.

I'm so pleased Camby is coming back- I've been waiting for this day for 10 years! Honestly, those 90s Knicks teams are probably what kept me going as a Knick fan through the Layden and IT days. Yeah, it's a big nostalgia move, but hopefully Camby can still contribute for a couple of years.

Why does Morey only seem to trade well against us? JJ, Jorts, a free TD and 2 2nd rounders for a player who wasn't going to re-sign anyway? I'd still do the trade, but it's a shame Jorts is gone- unfortunately Morey has some sort of PF fettish going on at the moment and will only entertain trades that land him a PF...

Still, great to have Camby on the roster, now we just need a SG and we're pretty much done. Maybe back up SF is a concern.

the team is improved
but the bench though stealth defensively is a horrible offensive team

If you're not getting consistency with JR shooting and Novak doesnt develop another set of moves
to his spot up jump shooting, offensively we'll be predictable and teams can shut knicks down.

Need another 2 way player (D and offense) whom can shoot

Add a cheap Shooting SG like Foye or Belinelli to start while Shump rehabs and we are set. Even if it takes Shump til April. JR, Foye, Shump is a very good complimentary 2-guard rotation. JR with the bench, Foye with the starters as a spot up 3pt specialist(all you really need) & shump great with the starters and the defensive juggernaut bench

Reading this made my day worth living.

This had to be humor. Please Bonn, give us a smiley or at least misspell something we can all know you're drunk-typing.

I was wondering what this lineup (obviously, if healthy) would be like in games where we build a big lead in the second half:

Camby
Tyson
Fishlips
JR
Shump

Dobermans on the perimeter, shotblocking galore, and Fishlips can even guard ones!

JR/Shump shooting, O-boards are all ours! Eat up the clock on our possessions.

Wonder if Coach D-Woody would ever run this team at them in practice:

Melo
Stat (back at the 5 where he was MVP for half a season! Running the PNR unfettered!)
Novak
Lin
Kidd

Would like to see that game on Youtube!

I'm so happy! Where's my Carlton Dance gif????

this is interesting:

“@joelkamali: @alanhahn no cash in the camby deal?!?!” No, I don’t believe so.
