toodarkmark wrote:Poor Landry. His contract is the poster child for a failed CBA, a failed work stoppage, and he will regret the pressure put on him. This is UNIVERSALLY being panned as a bad move, and will be the topic of discussions for days to come. I am a fan of Landry, do not think he deserves 7 a year, and feel Toronto has done the NBA a disservice. If theyre willing to pay him 7, miss out on Nash, why wouldnt they pay Lin an average of 10 or 12? I mean, why not?

I like Landry. But going of his rookie year, which was his best year, I'd say he was a mid-level guy at best. This is worse than the contract we gave Jared Jeffries under the Zeke regime. We can find plenty of wing defenders who can hit a corner three out of the D-League. I'm not trying to crap on Landry, but we don't need that much for the role he was going to play for this team.

Fields has to see that we drafted Shumpert to take over at SG, and the Greek to take over his reserve role on the front court in 2013. From his point of view this is a no-brainer- I doubt he thinks he will get a contract offer like this when his 3 years in Toronto are over, and he knows the Knicks would not offer him this kind of $$ and he would probably not be in a situation to command this type of salary from us at any point in the future. If he had reversed his two years, and had this year as a rookie, and his rookie year as a sophomore, I could actually see giving him this amount of money, but his regression was dramatic

A lot less pressure on him in Toronto- this should help him a great deal, assuming he can get back some semblance of the shot he showed us when he was a rookie. Is he going to be their starting SF? If he does not get back his 3 pt touch, you will have a terrible SF/SG combo as far as shooting behind the line, and to be honest, I can't see Nash wanting to play for a team which cannot spread the floor unless his ONLY concern is making the extra money.

Unless Toronto has something else up its sleeve- I cannot understand this signing.

A terrible contract, which really screws up the balance in the contract universe.

I can't even think straight I'm so angry.....

Knicks better not match that bull**** contract unless they are flipping it for another player. But who besides Toronto would take Landry fields for almost 7 mill a year?

Knicks wont match it they are not stupid. Woodson cant stand him always barking at him for stupid to's. He had him down to less than 10mins a game and the only reason he played so much and terribly in the playoffs is cos Shump went down game 1

1. Funny to see you guys complain about luxury tax and being over the cap. That's not Landry's fault and even with this contract he is still more tradeable than Amare.

2. Do you want JR "erratic/trigger-happy" Smith as your starting SG next year? Iman is hurt and might not be 100% back to himself until the 2013-2014 season. I repeat, Iman is hurt, badly!

3. Landry does not take away from anyones game. He is the most consistent player at moving without the ball.

4. Some fluff here, but he and Lin are good friends. That might be putting it lightly. You want Lin happy or as happy as possible? You keep Landry!

I can see a 4 year 20 million/yr deal from the Knicks as a good counter but the ball is also in Landry's court. If he goes to Toronto it will be only for the money. Did they guantee him a starting job or something?! Nothing makes sense about his signing. Unless it is solely to put the pressure on the Knicks to pay him.

Had enough Melo?

No way they pay him unless Nash comes along.

I can't believe Toronto is going to give out this crazy contract in the hope that it lessens our chances of signing Nash. Absolutely crazy.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Good for Landry - wish him the best.

I think we should offer Amare in a trade for Nash, maybe they'll make him an offer as well.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
