we better not he isnt worth it. The most he is worth is his player option

He is absolutely worth it for us...He played incredible defense for us...He took over games for us at time...If you look at the playoffs, we need players who isn't afraid of the moment like lots of players we have seen disappear in the playoff...He is an essential bench player...I'm really surprised at the vitriol he gets from this board...A player who can get his own shot off and plays defense are few and far between...

He is absolutely not worth it for us did you happen to watch the playoffs? Like I said if he wants to pick up his option then tahts fine but he isnt worth more. We need to now look into nash, allen, kidd, felton. we need a good back pg and we need another shooter not a streaky shooter like JR

Nash and Kidd is 40 years old, we need a vet who can play heavy minutes...You can't ask a rookie like LIn to compete in the type of basketball on a level we saw the last two weeks...Ray Allen would definitely be a great addition which makes JR and Novak expendable...I'm ok with that IF Allen signs...But resigning JR does nothing to you cap...We don't have many options out there...

like i said player option is fine but he is not worth using the whole midlevel on him. I mean you are probably the only fan willingg to do that lol. Also Nash is probably in better shape then guys 10 years younger. Now I love lin but if we could get nash and have lin as a back up then it would HUGE

Why do you keep doing this??...I never said I was willing to give him the MLE...I was questioning whether or not he falls under Bird's rights as well so we can retain him without giving the MLE or the LLE...Bro u are a spin doctor...

You might not want to give Nash the full MLE but I would. As much as I like Lin, its a pipe dream to believe that he will ever play as well as he did after his great run. If Nash goes to the Heat, game over.

LeBron finally gets it, Wade has a couple of seasons left in him, Bosh even longer. Are we supposed to be thinking about contending until after the Heat's window has passed while we have our own window to deal with?

OKC has a young team that needs more pieces, but once they do they will be perennial contenders. Our best shot is to get by the Heat while they retool, and the Thunder before they have all their pieces. After that the Knicks (as presently constructed) will be too old to get by the Heat or the Thunder. If we didn't have as much talent on this squad as we do now I would say to take long view but there is enough talent on this squad with the addition of a few more pieces to contend.

Anyone know what are the max numbers and options Lin will be able to earn? Also early bird rights vs max bird rights, we would be entitled to after another year?
Novak, he can range anywhere from about 2m-5m max, in which I don't think he would be worth 5m due to his lack of skills and ability to improve at his age.
Probably 2-3m is a reasonable number, but if we want to retain our full MLE, and LLE, we will have to make all the numbers work.
74m -5m(MLE) -2m(LLE) = our total salary after resigning whoever we decide to retain with the roster spots and cap hold against us at 12 roster spots.
With Fields, our 2nd round pick this year, Jorts, Jordan, and JR Smith...

Also does Balkman's salary get spread out to more years because of the buyout with the new CBA?

Read carefully, the discussion was about JR and the MLE not Nash..And of course I would give Nash the MLE but he won't take it..He will get 10 mil from PHX for two years...Ray Felton is our best option at PG..

actually you never mentioned birds rights to be honest. We were talking about being able to use the MLE on others and you said we should use it on Smith. We dont have Smith's birds rights and second of all we have other needs than a streaky shooter

I think this is gonna stick. The arbitrator made a solid ruling and based it off previous CBA, so it's not just him basing it off a feeling. NBA tried to get slick using vague language and they got caught.

I really hope we can get Nash cuz I think we need a vet who can show this team the way to win. Nash doesn't even need a coach, he's a coach already. Just give him the ball and get out of the way. Nash would also be a great mentor for Lin. I don't know if our MLE will be enough, but i'm hopeful.

I like Lee because he can defend and handle the ball some. I think Marco is one dimensional and offers little else besides outside shooting. Of course, I'd rather have J.R. Smith over both of them. Kirk Hinrich and Randy Foye would also be nice—combo guys who play defense and swing between the one and two.

I'm all for Kirk Hinrich. Little bit worried about him coming back from an injury but he's tough, smart can shoot and defend.

JR Smith can still jump out the building but I think the Knicks already have too many low basketball IQ players in Melo and Amare...

Legitimate HOF-er who won't be taking sh!t from Woodson or his Superstar to pass him the ball on every posession and will actually orchestrate an offense and get Amare involved. I can see the Melo fans losing some sleep.

But Melo himself may nix any Nash hiring.
