"Woody's teams always played good defense in Atlanta, they always did. So I would expect for him to put those kind of demands on them. When they defend, they can score, there’s no question about that." - Doug Collins

The second shift maintained the defensive intensity. It was seamless.

The focused style of play is playoffs-ready.

Props to Mike Woodson for holding players accountable for every mental error.

Love this quote by Doug Collins:

“I’m seeing more energy, tenacity,” the Philly coach said, as the Knicks won their fifth straight, 82-79, behind intense pressure and Amar’e Stoudemire’s 21 points. “Those are energy numbers. New York is playing like a totally different team. The intensity is higher.”

I think that one of the main reasons that they are winning is because Amare finally looks like he is happy, and, somebody is actually showing him how to play defense. He has never been taught. No college, never played for a coach who was defensive minded ... he is actually looking like he is enjoying the fact that he is now being taught this. And, what a great block he had tonight!!

Of course I don't think he was DOGGIN' it before, he just did not know better nor was he guided before on defense. People could easily say that he was dogging it being that he is playing so much better under Woodson, but that is just dumb.

“I learned that our guys are not going to buckle. They’re going to continue to stay strong and keep pushing. I honestly believe they think that they can win every game now that they step on the floor.”

During the timeout in the third quarter, the television camera captured a great line from Woodson (as barely broke a smile at his players) that went something like, "they're hitting us with everything they got and we ain't going nowhere." (props to firefly)

Cosign...Last years Pacers played lisless and underaceived last year aswell. They fired O'Brien, replaced him with an unknown assistant (Vogel) and all of a sudden, the same Pacers sqaud took off. Props were given to Vogel for being a very good, young and up-and coming coach. No-one was saying, well its the players fault and they should have been winning with O'Brien. No, Vogel got all the praise as should Woodson. He's pushed buttons that MDA didn't or couldn't or wouldn't....

I remember this. Love that he is constantly on the guys....Keeping them in the moment.

Accountability

The moment Lin fouled late in the fourth, he knew he had to face Woodson. Lin walked to the sideline. The cool part was that Woody did not show him up. He got his point across without embarrassing the player. Lesson learned.

The moment D'Antoni walked, the Knicks did not fall apart and Linsanity was not dead and buried.

We lucked out.
