I don't mean to troll Lin like Bonn does with Melo. And I swear this will be my last Lin post.
Trapping pnrs should effectively take the ball out of Lin's hands and force others to step up. But turning the ball over 6 times in one half? inexcusable. And a couple of those were just Chalmers and Cole poking the ball out of Lin's hands once he crossed the halfcourt line. You turn the ball over against Miami and you might as well forfeit the game. 15 first half TOs? Really?
And I don't blame Lin as much as I do D'Antoni. Was he fcking blind? Lin was useless in the first half but he left him in the game after Davis managed to do so well with the second unit. Same in the third quarter, with Lin playing until 2:00 left in the quarter when I thought he should have been yanked sooner.
D'Antoni left the bench in the game too long in the fourth. The bench cut the lead to 8. At that point he should have brought Melo and Amare back in the game. What ended up happening? The offense went stagnant. Baron started chucking 30 foot threes and we couldn't convert baskets. Even worse, we played defense and couldn't secure a rebound with Novak at PF. Then what happens? D'Antoni decides to play Novak at SG on the floor with Lin, Melo, Amare and Chandler. After Smith had been going off.
D'Antoni pulled this same sht in the Nets game leaving the bench unit too long on the floor in the second quarter which gave the Nets the momentum they needed to control the game the rest of the way.
When you have a deep bench, now you have to be smarter about which players need to play at certain times.
