Off-FENSE
Mr Carmelo Anthony had to go on ISO plays because the guard play was non-existant. Douglas barely could be trusted to advance the ball past midcourt and Shump was learning on the job with no summer league and no practice. No one else on the roster was adept at creating his shot. No one.
As a result, the other four of the floor stood and watched while Carmelo tried his best to create with stationary runing buddies... AND brought the ball upcourt on occasion. It was jacked up, not because of Carmelo, but because there was not a reasonable facsimile of a guard on the floor. The Knicks offense had to work for every shot and three pointers became a shaky crutch. 28 three's in one game? C'mon son!
With that said, it is on defense where the Knicks new playing personality was formed. If Carmelo wants to endear himself to the crowd at The Garden, all he needs to do is take a page from the Charles Oakley book - and dive into the second row after a loose ball.
