Father Knows Best

Son, years from now, when you understand things clearer, you will thank me for the tough love I dish out. You were so busy kvetching over the small things when you forgot that, “basketball’s so fun when you play on a team where people want to work together and work through tough times and overcome them and have victories like this,” Lin said.

mrKnickShot wrote:[STAMP] But Dad!! You promised!

Son, the only thing I promised you was that Carmelo would force shots when he felt he was the only option.

“This one was ugly and we lost a couple of players, (Lin added) but this team has a lot of will.”

Note the use of the word "team". That is a good thing.

mrKnickShot wrote:[STAMP] But Dad!

Go to sleep son. You need your rest, just like Mr. Lin. He will be chasing John Wall tonight, without much help. Think of it this way, after Tyson Chandler and Jared Jeffries our tallest rotation player is 6'7 Landry Fields. Sure, I know Novak is listed as 6'10, but he PLAYS 6'4.

Our next three games will not be a walk in the park.

Nighty. night.

Beautiful basketball.

Get ready for Jeremy Lin's first double double. Win or lose, his influence is unmistakeable. Crisp passing is BACK as a signature element of Knicks basketball.

The Answer Man is getting a bit misty.

Ya you can tell that lin is playing with confidence. I think him and Amare will be like felton was with him and maybe better. The only bad thing is melo because melo hasn't exactly played team ball and thats shows from our record since the trade.

Melo may be stubborn, but he ain't no fool. Just visualize the open looks that Bill Walker (2-10) has gotten tonight - being taken by Carmelo.

Greg Anthony just used the word beautiful to describe Knicks basketball.

Shumpert 6-11 for an efficient shooting night.

Beautiful

"I just try to play with as much energy and emotion as I can," Lin said. "I let it all hang out when I get out there."

It is no coincidence that Landry Fields is suddenly attacking the rim with passion.

"The energy in this room, the camaraderie that we have right now, he's kind of unified this team," Jeffries said. "He can take a lot of credit for that because his energy and how much he truly enjoys every moment he's out there has unified and given our team a new energy."

The Knicks are suddenly playing with a purpose.

Landry is playing much better and I love his attacking the rack!

His shooting? Eeeeeeeeesh! Not looking good lately at all. His shot looked so much better last year. Very strange.

I gotta admit, I was wrong about Lin. It's still early, but I think the kids has shown that he's a really good backup at the very least. The turnovers should drop as he gets more comfortable and you gotta think that his shooting is going to pick up. My only concern is how he handles pressure when team start meeting him more in the backcourt. It's not that big a problem when Shump is in there with him, but teams are going to slow him down earlier in the shot clock. But damn, the kid does know how to run a pick and roll.

BigDaddy - what turnovers? He only had two tonight. The turnovers against two quality Utah point guards were more due to being exhausted than anything else. Dude went for 45 minutes. That is ridiculous. But whatdyagunnado? Utah tried the tactic you mentioned and ran three guys at him in the backcourt. Knicks still won.

If teams decide to double him in the backcourt, his recognition skills are keen enough to spot a coverage early and he will respond quickly. Lin's ballhandling and decision making has transformed a raggedy offense into something that is a joy to watch.

Still early?

Yes, early enough for chicken littles to sit on their hands and wait for the sky to fall?

Not me. This is too much fun.

It pisses me off now that he got benched in the second half of that Celtics game for TD.

Not trying to be a chicken little lol Lin has had turnover problems in college and in his first year in the league. I think he'll work through it and his three-point shooting as he gets more comfortable.

Pissed the sh1t out of me too (and we probably woulda won the game) but we gotta move on and enjoy him now. Don't think MDA is gonna bench him too fast now

Like D'Antoni said about Lin after the Utah game "I'm riding him like friggin' Secretariat." Don't think we'll have to worry about him being benched or pulled anytime soon, and hopefully Baron could spell him for 10-15 minutes once he's healthy.

I would like Lin to average at least 35 mins a game.
