Use Baron for 2011-2012 and then hand the reigns over to:
Felton/Nash/Sessions (Pick one)

I like Felton & Nash a lot of course...
I just don't see how Sessions is even in the same league as the other two.
I never understood people's fascination with Sessions.

I agree....obviously, Nash and Felton are the logical choices.
Sessions doesn't shoot the three and steal the ball,
but he has shown flashes of being a great distributor...
and he's only 25 and is a lower cost option at 4.25 million.

Just read that Baron Davis has cleared waivers and is free to sign with any team he desires.

What I got from the Knicks open practice is that they definitely think that the Iman is going to play significant minutes. Seems to me that suggests the Knicks will pass on Baron Davis and wait for a back up power forward to surface like Mr. Outlaw.

I guess we'll see where TD is at tomorrow, but Davis could be an upgrade if he can get into game shape. Just don't see Iman or Bibby as a starter. And TD is just not a good enough passer or scorer. Like him off the bench though. It's his job to lose so i'll be rooting for hom, but i just don't think realistically it's going to happen

BTW someone going to start a game thread?

Doubt it.
And Hahn tweeted interest is mutual.

It's Dolan's money we will get both.

Say what you want about the baron, but I'm confident he can do these two things:1) run a pick and roll 2) throw an alley oop. I think it will be good to have a point guard on the roster who has experience and is functional. I'm not sure Bibby is functional and Shumpert is lacking in experience at the point guard position.

+1 (But...I've still got some love for Leon Powe)

big no to troy murphy. outlaw would be such a better fit (and has more left in the tank).

I don't want any NET REJECTS.

(watch this)

Didn't Troy Murphy and Outlaw BOTH play on New Jersey last year?

The Nets started the season loaded at the 4 last year. Murphy was supposed to start with Favors getting a lot of minutes. I don't think they had any idea that Humphries would have a career transforming year there and Murphy would barely play. I think the Nets waived him around the trade deadline.

MDA suggested earlier that the Knicks weren't interested in Redd, because they wanted someone capable of playing power forward behind Stat. Maybe that was just an excuse, or maybe they actually meant it. The Knicks presently seem to be confident about Toney's ability to handle the Knick's point guard assignment, and also think Iman appears capable of handling both guard roles. My guess is that the Knicks will not pull the trigger on Baron Davis in the short term. That way they can continue to monitor whether a power forward becomes available that would be a significant upgrade over the their current back ups.

baron davis is a much different proposition than michael redd at this point.

and i don't believe they're that confident in toney, for one thing he wasn't practicing with the starters in that scrimmage today. bibby and iman were.

To quote David Stern, "Back Schmack", the Knicks need to sign Baron. Baron's deal with the cavs runs two years so he would be willing to sign on for two seasons at the vet minimum. Davis is no where near done. I was able to see him in Melo's second game as a Knick in Cleveland. Davis owned the Knick guards and looked great. I believe it was his first game. The guy was the third pick in the draft and averaged 13 and 7 last year in an off year. I can't think of anyone else that can run the point as a free agent signing. Toney is not looking good on the scrimmage videos that I have seen and Bibby didn't stand out. The Knicks need to sign Baron.

If he's not going to be back for 8-10 weeks, then there's no rush. Let the season start and see what Bibby we actually signed. In 2 months, Amar'e may change his mind about how much we could use Baron.
