Knicksfan - a while back I read an interesting statistic on the limited number of NBA players selected after the lottery level who actually turn into legit NBA contributors. The list is not not that long and the stats on second round picks who succeed is astonishingly small.
The talent in the first round is not at the bottom and the second round is the biggest crapshot of all.
There is a reason Landry Fields was such a shock.
It goes like this:
First round 1-15, college guys who can play basketball
First round 15 and over - college guys who can play basketball who have some flaw to their game
Second round 1-15 - college guys who can play basketball who have a significant flaw
Rest of Second round - college guys who would not get picked at The Rucker for a full court game
