I like Gasol, but why has he taken a step backward this season instead of forward?

i don't see Martin as a realistic option... Granger's interesting though, but what would u be willing to trade for him? u gotta figure he'd cost us at least 1 or 2 of our top young players to get.

Curry, Chandler or Gallo, and AR for Granger
and a filler?

i dunno, personally i don't think Granger's much of an upgrade to be worth giving up 2 of those guys... would love to have Camby tho... i wonder if POR would be interested in AR enough to send us Camby in return?

Based on what they did last year, it would seem that the entire Memphis team has taken a step back.

It definitely has. But based on Gasol last season, being a 15 and 9 player in his second season, you would think he was on the verge of being an 18 and 10 player this season. This season is still just a small sample so maybe he can turn it around, but we need to see more upside and production from him to warrant offering a large contract this summer.

Yeah he may not be a major upgrade. I still like Iggy just because of his defensive abilities and his creative game. I think he could be as good in this system or better than Granger and for a lesser cost.

yeah if i could choose between Granger or Iggy i think i'd go with Iggy too... i like his athleticism & defense & ability to create... looking forward to seeing what's up DW's sleeve if Melo ends up going to NJ.

i like marc gasol but i agree fully and he's battled weight issues his whole career. i don't think he'll ever have a problem like eddy curry, but enough added weight and it seems to really effect his game - like it has this year.

One of my biggest issues with not getting Melo is there isn't a definite plan B that gives us a true upgrade. There are some options like Gasol and Chandler up front and Granger and Iggy in the backcourt, but i'm not convinced any of these players is significant enough as an upgrade to propel us to the next level. I am convince that despite losing significant talent to trade for Melo, we are a much better team and much more prepared for playoff success if we were to acquire him. For those opposed to trading multiple assets for Melo, can you please give me a plan that offers a significant upgrade and a comfort level that we are ready to advance to becoming a top team in the east?

IMO, if we miss out on Melo, i think our best bet might be to go after Camby & Dre Miller... that fills both our primary needs at the C & backup PG positions... i'd offer up AR, TD, Mozgov, Curry's expiring, a future #1 + cash... dunno if that would get it done tho.

btw, i hear the Nuggets are trying to get Miller back to Denver if they make this trade with the Nets... i say we screw them since they screwed us.

ZDump is a stat machine but he is playing for a contract and just inhales the chemistry out of a team.

Memphis has talent but not properly constructed.

Give Gasol to Speedball master Sir Pringles and watch him go "PAU"!

Chris_Broussard Den, NJ, Det could be working feverishly for nothing. Sources say Melo has never told anyone, not even his reps, he's willing to sign in NJ

yeah, there is lots weird about how this denver/new jersey thing has unfolded. it seems like denver keeps chickening out of a deal... or keeps bringing it to melo and he keeps saying "i'm not signing in jersey."

forget Deron Williams, we have no chance of getting him w/o gutting our roster... this isn't the same as the Melo situation

huh? If Deron wants out and wants NY all the Knicks have to do is trade Felton.

It'll be the same as what Melo is doing if he really wants NY.

well yeah, if Deron says he only wants to play w/the Knicks & forces Utah's hand like Melo might do, that changes matters... otherwise ur nuts if u think Utah would take back Ray Felton in exchange for him straight up.

all I know is that every great player who is on a team that said all-star is not enjoying has GOT to be noticing what the Knicks are doing and more importantly what Amare is doing. He is the key.

If Deron where to use the "juice card," it would probably be to end up in Dallas. That's his home town and I have a feeling that Cuban wants another big move before the Mavs head to the playoffs.

or maybe the Magic... a Deron & Dwight Howard combo would be absolutely sick.
