I'd submit that many if not most of the best generals/coaches/leaders have been considered to be pricks by many.

I think this is different...There was a method to their madness...Parcell and Riley used that stuff as a motivational tools...This just seems like it flies off the cuff with this guy...I'm never against a tough coach when there is thought behind it...Can't say I ever see that in MDA's antics...

Ascribing "motivation" to one and "flying off the cuff" to another seems rather arbitrary to me.

Listen, some people rub us the wrong way. One guy I would not enjoy coaching the Knicks is Avery Johnson; I could simply never relate to his "charm". But if he ever becomes the Knicks coach, damn straight the players better line up, do as they're told and earn their place under him. If he hurts a few butts in the process of instilling order and work ethic and getting the group to over-achieve let the whiners be damned.
