"I have come to the conclusion that Knicks manage to always find a way to hurt themselves. If Chandlers name is being mentioned in trade rumors for Melo shouldn't he be starting and playing big minutes to get him going early. Bigger numbers he produces the more Nuggets might be intrigued by him.

VMart,

The point of playing a season of basketball is to try and win as many games as possible and get into playoffs.

If D'Antonio believes Fields will more likely help the Knicks win a few extra games, that's a great reason to start him. Take the stuff about Chandlers value and throw it in the garbage.

"Starting Fields right now is a stupid move unless they are showcasing him. What is MDA thinking here."

D'Antoni is thinking about making the Knick's better. That doesn't sound like a stupid idea to me.

to me it seems like fields doesnt exactly take anything away from the starting the 5, while chandler solidifies a bench that is struggling with AR @ the moment.

Fields was great in preseason. One of the highest bball iq's on the team, one of the best athletes and ballhandlers on the team. Defense was inconsistent and he has to show more consistent shooting but he was certanly one of the best players and adds a different dimension to our team. Let's face it, most of our players are set shooters with little creative ability.

First look at Fields in extended minutes, reminds me of a young Doug Christie.

Yeah he's a very solid player and gives the rotation a good level of versatility. Being able to put Chan on the 2nd unit is a HUGE boost for this team. Chan is ready from what I saw. He looks like he actually knows he's the man in that 2nd unit and he's not deferring.

Saw the game, can't believe Fields is a rookie, he had zero turnovers (almost a bad one trying to save us from a shot clock violation) and played pretty good defense and very good on offense. This means teams got to respect his shot. Things are going to open up for us.

Again, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS KID IS A ROOKIE! Congrats Fields, I didn't think you were a fluke and you just proved that. He was in at the end of the game, a 2nd round pick! ehehehhe WOW
He really adds some kind of glue out there cause he isn't really looking for his shot and his IQ keeps the ball moving and puts him in the right places. I really don't remember him making any bad mistakes, just a few acceptable ones.

Yeah, when he has a good look he is taking it. Like I said in the game thread, I wish that they would run the offense through him more. He makes a tough shot then nada. I don't want him to force it, its just he can lose a defender pretty easily when he wants to and hit a floater or drive.

Oh and to those saying Chandler put up nice stats at SG I say yea nice stats on a 29 win team.

(cough)

Yes, Landry Fields wears a Knicks snuggie and knows how to play basketball

Somewhere Donnie Walsh is smiling

The best part is that Landry will only improve with experience and familiarity with the nuance of his new league. Certainly, matching up with the Boston Celtics will be more than a notion, but for game two on the road... we are like Mike Spinks against Mike Tyson... "we got notin' to lose"

He'll do more as he becomes more comfortable. He's got a good first step, pretty good court vision, and seems to make good decisions.

Don't think they would even think to run the offense through him at this point. He is going to be an opportunistic scorer and not try to force things.

Funny thing about this guy- he has played the same way in the SL, Pre-season, and now game one. How many times do you see this kind of consistency from a rookie.

The ATDHE feed was from the Toronto broadcast. At one point one of their guys said the Knicks considered Fields a late lottery to the later part of round 1 talent. I've never heard or read this from another source, but Fields seems to be validating that statement up to now.

Hope he continues to improve, and his 3pt stroke stays consistent.

too many young men to keep track of. 22 year old Fields who was undocumented in NBA's draft prospectus and drafted in second round, 22 year old Gallo who snared a few rebounds at end of game to close down Raptors O or 23 year old Chandler who came off bench to score 22, grab 8 boards and had some huge blocks?

5th youngest team in league (with Curry tipping the scales in the wrong direction).

My guess is that they started the youngest lineup in the NBA this season. Anyone up for that?

Knicks are still in rebuild mode, right?

Hey dude. Any change of heart on Fields? I'm not asking to be a d*ck or anything I'm just curious if you saw anything you liked about him last night.

Much tougher D in the Celtics on Friday. They're pissed about losing to the Cavs. I'm sure Doc Rivers said something like don't look past crappy teams. I'm sure everyone on the floor for the Knicks will look a lot worse on Friday night.

But yeah. Fields. Your opinion..still the same?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I was definitely impressed by Fields last night. Hope he keeps it up. Also hope Chandler comes off the bench with that mentality every night.

lol exactly.

meanwhile in houston, rick adelman must hate playing bad second-year players because jordan hill hasn't gotten off the bench once. yeah mda really missed the boat on that one.
