Im excited about this kid, he's not a grade A PG, but the kid can play, he's tough as nails and from what im hearing from the Charlotte forums he's a great teamate and well behaved off the court as well.

He has two high flyers in AS & AR with Gallo opening up the lanes creating space with his long ball, He's a coachable player and he gives the effort you'd expect from a professional on the court.

His shot is suspect but for 3/25 mill contract along with all the other intagibles he provides he's paid on par to what skill he brings to the court, great signing by the knicks....

He's not a great shooters, but I've seen him hit plenty of daggers, so I'll accept him taking shots when he's open.

He's a good player. He wasn't my first choice either, as I showed on my top 3 list in the other thread, but he's still good to have. Welcome to the Knicks Ray!

Felton was the guy I wanted of all the FA point guards. I think he has the chance to raise his game a notch or two here. He's a heady, smart PG. Not the fastest guy, but makes good decisions and can hit big shots and defend.

I was a little worried about the kind of contract it would take to get him, but I think this is a very reasonable deal for a PG right in the middle of his prime.

And he can be a trade chip if we try to get a guy like Parker or CP3 (though not sure how likely that is).

But I think this is a great signing.

Felton's scouting report says he's a blur with the ball! He timed 3.06 in the sprint! His agility was also great and vert was a solid 33.5".

Watching him play for Charlotte he did not run much, but that could have been Larry Brown's influence. He kind of did a lot of slow spin dribbling at the top of the key. He ran in college. I think he can run here. He certainly has the horses to run with here.

Larry never wants to pay fast. He likes a controlled, grind it out, lot turnover game. His teams win that way. Here Felton won't resemble anything he looked like under LB. Plus this is going to be the most talented team he's been on since college. This team has speed, shooting and athletic players that can catch and finish. A PG of his skills should thrive in this system. Duhon actually looked good for a long stretch and he's a much better talent. He should be able to sustain a high level of play, whereas Duhon was playing above his head and couldn't keep it up. Still this system made Duhon look a lot better than he was.

Any guard with talent should look good in this system if he has the mind of a true PG and Felton is a real PG. He's not one of those Combo guards that thinks pass 2nd. If he can somehow keep his shooting %'s up like he did last yr, he should be great for us.

Also, I think people forget just how badly Duhon played last year. Here was DuDu's stats:

7.4 PPG, 37% FG, 35% 3-pt FG, 5.6 AST, 1.6 TO

The only thing Duhon has ever done well is have a great assist:turnover ratio. But we basically masqueraded a backup PG for a starter for one and a half years. Felton is a legit starting PG, who played his first three years on an expansion team whose best offensive players were Gerald Wallace and Okafor.

Last season, every time Duhon actually played well and resembled a starting PG, we'd win the game. I think Felton alone will give us 10 more wins than last year, just because of how much an improvement he'll be to Duhon.

Felton is a good pick. they're talking 3 yrs deal 25mm. Luke ridour is garbage, felton 10x better. Felton will master teh pick and roll with Amare. I like this move.

He was part of the illustrious 2005 NBA draft, taken behind Bogut, M Williams, Deron Williams, and CP3. Back then, there was some debate whether he was the better pick in the NBA.

Understanding that pre-Knicks he's been a better player than Duhon, what will the D'Antoni effect be on him - particularly with him paired with Amare and the rest of the Knicks?

PGs are strange animals in the NBA - the could be fantasy superstars from day 1, or sometimes take years to develop into All-stars, even MVPs. The most common modern-day examples are Steve Nash & Chauncey Billups. After 5 year of the NBA, each of those players elevated their games to new levels.

Throughout his career, Felton's best teammate was Gerald Wallace, who, while an excellent player, is more of a garbage player than anything else. Based on the supporting cast, it seems as if his team went about it's way w/o a clear go-to guy prior to Jax's arrival.

It will be interesting to see if Amare can help Felton reach his full potential. Pick & Roll's supposedly his thing - and he'll have a masterful partner w/ Amare (though he would have with David Lee too...)

Either a decent player with an expiring contract or a reasonable contract for a player putting up numbers in offense

Either way, a win

I am just seeing the numbers and the 3rd year option for the first time.

Makes it even a better move, and it gives us continued cap flexibility in the future.

Dont forget playing under larry brown has restricted his real talent. He played point under set plays. Coming to the knicks with Dantoni's free offensive style, WOW, will really expose his natural abilty and offensive skills..

Putting on my Nostradamus hat and saying it now:

Felton will be awarded the Most Improved Player award next season as he averages over 8 assists and leads the Knicks to their first playoff berth in nearly a decade.

One thing I will say....saying the Knicks are desperate with this Felton signing really annoys the stuffing out if me. Can't wait to see the next move and go to war next year.

I like the fact he had big games at MSG last season, and combined with what he said in the interview, hopefully means he'll flourish rather than buckle under the New York pressure. I love the contract and hope this move really works out.

Just out of curiosity, who the hell is playing point guard for Charlotte next season?

Probably Augustin - though they could still make a move at that position.
