this is ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous.

i'll say what i've been saying for the past two years one last time - obviously lebron loves the attention. he doesn't want this story to end. if he stays in cleveland it very quickly becomes a non story. if he comes to NY it becomes a huge story. if he goes to Miami it becomes a huge story. if he goes to Chicago it's a big deal, but slightly less of a story.

i think it'll be NY or Miami. i'm just hoping it doesn't kill my love of the NBA in the process.

if he tells the world he's leaving cleveland in a press conference, that would be a classless a move as you can make.

if ESPN has known about this TV thing all along... maybe their constant dismissal of the knicks has been some sort of weird tactic to make them look like a shocking darkhorse?

gah. i can't believe we're all being played like this.

bron has made himself bigger than the game. not a good thing.

i have been thinking this whole "lebron's camp wanting to downplay the knicks to make it more shocking" for a while now. although, theres alot of playa conspiracy theories going on in that thought lol.

I wanted Carmelo anyway.

Me too - although it would be nice to have both.

one thing not in our favor, if he comes to the knicks he will be villainized the way Arod is.

there's going to be a lebron backlash one way or another.

i don't think his team has actually played this too smartly.

As for this 1 hour special, I like it. LeBron has been very cool about his decision. It has been the reporters and the fans who have made this a Big circus-like event, not LeBron. So why not broadcast it. The alternative is a Big Press Conference, which also would be broadcasted. The difference is that LeBron is getting sponsors for this event and all of the sponsors' money is going to charity - the Boys and Girls Club of America. I think that is a wonderful, very unselfish act by LeBron. A great move! made by someone worthy of playing in NY and making Billions!

Word. Props to the man for having the balls to run his FA respectfully. I am going to like having him lead my beloved Knicks for some number of years.

No there won't. Most Knicks fans will rejoice. It's about having the players to compete. There will be hundreds of thousands of former Knick fans who have foresaken the team during the past ten years that will return in droves.

What I'd like to know is if Brian will still be hooking us up with the mid-court cheap seats anymore? I'd sure love to take my kids to see Lebron and Amare at the Garden.

Broussard is allowing himself to be used as a tool for access. He's selling out any integrity to become... what? the next Ahmad Rashad?

A "source" told him there would be an ESPN special announcing Bron's decision? Really dude? have some self-respect.

I'm really curious as to what exactly is going to fill a whole hour. Is he going to eliminate team by team in seperate segments?

"Then the Clippers.. well.. did anyone think I was going to really sign with the Clippers? Seriously"

I think there are 2 different ways to look at it:

1. No way he rips the sould out of Cleveland on national TV

or

2. The entire hour is mostly filled with a "Thanks for the memories" type clipshow, and then he politely rips their soul out and bolts for NY/Chi

Regardless, I've cleared my night in anticipation. I've waited 2 years for this, why not make an event out of it?

His cred is shot. Within minutes I got retweets of Broussard aging knicks are gaining major ground then he puts them behind every team in the chase.

Good luck on local sportstalk radio in Omaha next year bro!

ESPN and LeBron have planned some form of this for months - to me this calls into question ANY and ALL of their reporting:
Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that LeBron James has long planned some kind of agreement with ESPN regarding his much-hyped free agency.

It was announced on Tuesday night that James would announce his decision on Thursday night on ESPN.

"James' plans were in the works in some form for months, according to sources, having talked with ESPN about filming his entire free-agency process for a documentary. For a while, this included some plans to take a tour across the country and visit interested teams," Windhorst writes.

When the Cavaliers were eliminated by the Celtics in the second round of the playoffs and LeBron struggled at times, those plans were scraped.

nah. wherever bron goes - he's going to be his personal media contact. the only guy who ever gets interviews with him. like ahmad rashad with jordan.

no one respected ahmad, but he had his contacts so he got face time on TV.

broussard isn't a reporter, he's a personality. no one on ESPN is a reporter. they suck.

I am posting this same thing in 2 different threads....

Is there anything that can be considered unmanufactured and real with Lebron at this point?

he's been a media sensation since he was 15. he's like this generation's michael jackson meets michael jordan.

i don't know if i want him here at this rate. i really don't. i want the knicks to win and he's the best player... but i don't know if i can stomach this. i want to build a defensive juggernaut to stop this dude from ever winning a ring at all costs.

This is reminiscent to a top High Schooler holding a press conference to announce what College he will be playing for. Lebron never had that and is getting his shine now. I say let him experience that...Its fun for everyone.
