Even though in the next 2 years they will start having to look for Tim Duncan's replacement they are still one of the best teams in the West when healthy.

I think you can kind of say the same thing with regards to CLE. You HAVE to start with a superstar and then everything after that is just filler and molding the team.

My main point as with both of these teams is that they drafted their superstar. And make no mistake SA success in recent years can def be attributed to drafting guys like Parker and Manu. Without them they would not have won their Championships. SA represents a team that has done things the right way they have some the best evaluators of talent and have used almost every draft to better their team. Whereas the Knicks can't even get a lottery pick right.

Getting the superstar is the most important part, whether by trade (Lakers with Shaq, KG/Ray Allen Boston) or by luck (TD, LeBron). And after you get that person you can build around, everything else is easy by comparison, no?

Well if Gallo is a homerun pick because you know he is Larry Bird/Dirk rolled into one player we could have put draft picks around him moving forward right? Gallo can be that Superstar lottery pick right? Hopefully we trade our 2 2nd round picks into the first round and somehow buy another pick somehow with cash.

Gallo got potential and growing room but hasn't shown anything yet. I don't think anyone is suggesting he is anywhere near the talent to build a team around, so I don't know where your statements are coming from.

Why can't you build around Gallo if he has those skillsets? Better yet say if we didn't make the trade why couldn't we build around Gallo/Hill who have Dirk/Amar'e skillsets? Both lottery picks BTW. Wasn't this the some of the talk we experienced this season? Why can't we build around Gallo?

I'm not picking an argument here seriously why couldn't we build a team around a 6th and 8th pick?

juice = another annoying troller. we're fielding an all-star team of them at the moment.

it's all part of the plan marv.. we have a bunch of guys on one year contracts and we're just waiting to get the lebron of knicks posting in here next year. hard to imagine someone having more posts than TMS but i guess it's possible. we all wait.

yeah, don't know what to do about it at the moment. Years of frustration with the team and mostly everyone is just venting. I think come July 1, we will be challenging posters to up their game or move on.

I think I'll be needing one of your fruity drinks after the Mavs series.

atleast this spurs/mavs series has had some physicality and the refs are allowing it. its a long ways away from 15 years ago, but it's been nice to see that brand of basketball again.

yeah man, definitely agree.

just as a sidenot.. kobe looks really old this series. i know he has some injury issues, but he's taking jumper after jumper and it doesn't look like he has the same explosiveness he used to.

pao is keeping them in the series....guys like fisher and odom are so exposed when kobe isnt hitting lights out. lakers could get beat by the thunder - which would be a GREAT thing for the nba. doubt it happens though b/c as good as westbrook and durant are, they still need some mileage under their belts to be able to handle playoff atmosphere and pressure when it counts most....we'll see - if the thunder can scrape a win out tonight, then im worrying if im phil jackson.

Kobe's body has taken a lot beatings through the years. Sometimes I forget that he came into the NBA at 19 and I think that has peak years are nearly past him if they aren't already. The rest of those bums like Odom and Fisher are being exposed for the overrated/crappy players they are. I don't think the Thunder can win the series though because I don't see them being able to win in LA. But Heaven help the Lakers if they lose in LA next game.

True. Actually Kobe was barely under 18 when he came in. People forget this is now Kobe's 14th season in the league. He's only 31 but he's an OLD 31.

As far as tonight, well, don't be surprised if the zebras give the Lakers a little "home cookin'".

I like how Kobe has polished his game to the point where he doesn't have to rely on athleticism as much as he used to. Which also is why I think he's going to be effective for a long time - a la Jordan in his Wiz-days.

I'm also curious to see Wade and LeBron's game in some years.

These playoffs so far have really been about the coming out parties for Jennings and Westbrook. Favorite series so far is Spurs/Mavs.
