It would be nice to see him win. No matter what I have no hard feelings. The guy came into camp ready to be a backup to Duhon. He should have been released during the summer.

If only that were true. He came into camp saying he would not come off the bench in NY and it took him 10 days to change his mind, and only after Crawford told him no player can be bigger than the franchise. He came into camp still not quite understanding that. He'd have been a self-absorbed diva punk this year, just like every other.

Blue, you must let that hate go, man. The Knicks got rid of their headcase only to trade for another's team's headcase. It's not about right and wrong no more.

So because they traded him it gives you permission to write revisionist history about him?

There is no revisionist history. Marbury said he was willing to back up Duhon. He said he would like to start. What's the big deal here. Let it go. Have a Coke. Wish him the best. It's over.

Says the guy who's sig is about a coach that left three years ago.

You hated Brown, you're none too supportive of D'. I don't know about your feelings for Wilkens and Isiah, but for a guy who seems to hate coaches I'm not surprised Marbury is your guy.

I posted the articles about this and proved that Marbury spent the first 10 days of camp struggling to decide if he could deal with coming off the bench behind Duhon. It's simply a falsehood that he came to camp ready to take any role.

Just out of curiosity, who do you suppose Steph was going to be this year: Stephon Marbury or "Starbury"?

It's call not being petty. Marbury has never been my guy for the record but I still don't see where that has do with wishing him the best and hopes he wins a championship on a championship team.

My sign is based on interview that I read about Lebron. I think it is funny as hell on so many different levels based on rumors and people think about what went on over there in 2004 and about Brown.

I've not challenged anyone for having those feelings (though I hardly share them) I'm simply keeping the record straight about his time here.

It is a closed book on another failure project in NY. I don't know about this keeping the "record straight" stuff but if it makes you happy go at it.

Funny, i've seen comments from Ray Allen and Pierce, but not KG on the whole Stoogebury drama-in-green-to-be.

Wonder what Rondo thinks?

I can't really imagine that Marbury is anything less than cooperative and on board with the Celtics. Certainly if its not it will stay behind closed doors.

Marbury should get lots of looks and easy baskets. He will be on the floor with three HOF's many times, that don't hurt.

He blows this he is more brain dead than one could imagine.

So when do we get the Post-Marbury effect that the Nets, Suns and Wolves had? Or do we have to wait till next season?

He got Pruitt set up so he can get minutes.

Next thing we'll see pictures of Rondo passed out in Drag on the internet and Marbury will start!

Rumor has it Pruitt was found with a baldie and the number 3 stenciled out on his forehead. He was also taken into custody wearing a pair of cheap, WalMart looking sneakers that still had the $14.95 price tag attached. Thankfully, the police removed the laces before confining him.

I can't wait for the Rhoidbury interview with Bill Russell.

Do the Celtic Dancers get regular blood tests?

Celts sign Marbury in time to play FridayComment Email Print Share ESPN.com news services

The Boston Celtics signed Stephon Marbury Friday after the guard cleared waivers, and the club hoped to have the New York Knicks castoff in uniform for Friday night's game against the Indiana Pacers.

"We are very excited to have a player of Stephon's caliber joining our team," Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said in a statment. "Our entire organization is confident in the belief that Stephon can play an important role in helping us to win another championship."

Marbury, a former All-Star guard who alienated Knicks management, teammates and fans, was signed after having his physical at the Celtics' suburban practice facility early Friday.

He agreed to a buyout of his $20.8 million contract and was waived by New York on Tuesday. The Celtics were expected to sign him for a pro-rated share of the veteran's $1.3 million minimum.

Marbury, who turned 32 last week, hasn't played a regular-season game in more than a year.

"I believe all systems are go and we will have Stephon on the roster later today," Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck said in an e-mail to The Associated Press about an hour after Marbury cleared waivers.

Marbury could be seen from the public area of the workout facility wearing a white, long-sleeved T-shirt and sweatpants, jumping up and down as he took the practice court, smiling and chest-bumping with several people wearing Celtics gear. After a few minutes, the automatic shades were lowered.

Marbury is expected to back up Rajon Rondo at point guard, a role Sam Cassell served when the Celtics won their 17th NBA title last season. Eddie House, who is more of a shooter, has been forced into the role this year; Cassell did not play in a game for Boston this year before he was traded to the Sacramento Kings and released last week.

Marbury took a long leave of absence from the Knicks when his father died in December 2007, then had season-ending ankle surgery and has not played since Jan. 11, 2008.

He returned to the Knicks in training camp, but when the sides tried to negotiate a buyout early in the season, Marbury at first refused to surrender any more than $1 million of his $20.8 million salary and the team told him to stay home until a buyout could be completed.

Even before the final breakdown, Marbury was at the center of controversy during his five years in New York, from feuding with coaches to skipping games.

Doc & Marbs press conference.
(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Ladies and gentlemen, Stephon Marbury is in Boston. And he's headed to the court now.

Marbury and Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers met with the media shortly before the team's game with Indiana tonight, in a news conference that lasted just a little less time than Marbury's first practice with the team. "We had about an hour," quipped Rivers. But that was long enough for him to be convinced marbury was ready to play.

"We're just going to throw him out there," Rivers said, saying Marbury's minutes would be determined by the rhythm of the game and Marbury's conditioning. With Gabe Pruitt suspended and Tony Allen out, he added, "We just need bodies."

But Marbury said he was ready to get out there, after sitting out most of the year in a contract dispute with the New York Knicks. "I'm just going to go out and play as hard as I can," Marbury said. "I have been training basically the whole summer and up until now, so I am ready to play basketball."

Rivers said he'd be forgiven for any opening night errors. "If he screws up a play, it's because he doesn't know it," Rivers said. "One thing I told Steph was on the the court was just to be free, just to play."

And Marbury says he will fit whatever role Rivers wants him to. "I'm so happy to just be able to play basketball again, let alone what my role is."
