Larry Hughes gets a lot of steals. We need guys who can create turnovers so we can get some more fast breaks. I think he makes a big difference and makes the rotation smarter.

Gallo and TT basically were the same player for us now...we needed a guard to take Q's minutes.

Hughes for Fugazy & Turd works for me... lateral trade but we needed a SG & have depth at the SF position... a worthwhile tradeoff... now we can sign PEJ finally.

Not sure this is a lateral trade, because the Knicks are clearly trying to make the playoffs and show that they can turn the organization's losing ways around.

Both Wilcox and Hughes minus the others, 3 of whom don't even play or contribute little at all, helps the roster this year.

We have no real SG, and no real big man.

This also opens up a roster spot for Pat Ewing Jr.

i'd say PEJ is the wildcard, but i wouldn't expect much from him... putting up stats in the D Leagues & putting them up in the NBA are 2 completely different animals altogether... at the very least we'll have another player to root for w/sentimental value to this franchise... that's good for the fans if nothing else.

i agree that this trade makes us better for this season. like a lot more well-rounded.

i think it helps us make a playoff run, actually. i think now we'll be in the playoffs mix til the very end. yeah, i said it.

great deals, comlete lateral trade as mentioned w/ regards to the cap, (and i would've liked to see jeffries packaged with rose but maybe donny couldnt make that happen), but i think this definitely puts the knickerbockers in the playoffs this year. i think with hughes and wilcox in the lineup, they will finish stronger than milwaukee, NJ and chicago (what are they thinking?). first round sweep is likely, but as somebody mentioned, getting to the playoffs helps remove some of the stench of isiah.

Totally agree as usual Des.

I think trading TT opens up more minutes for Gallo, which I like.

Larry Hughes can be a knucklehead but I think in this D'Antoni system he's gonna be a hell of a player on both sides of the ball. Hughes, as Des said, is a gambler, but when you play in an up and down game like the Knicks do, the gambles will pay off more times than not.

Like this move, we gave nothing up and got a player who has all-star potential when right.

Yeah, but he can block a shot and grab a rebound now and then and play some defense. He can help out a little bit.

Tiny Tim actually was playing well for us,and seemed to be bonding with the young guys, but I get the trade. Good job Donnie.

Really stoked about the end of the Malik Rose era, easily the most hated Knick for me.

yea, i always heard about how he was a veteran presence and what not, but he always seemed to be goofing around. given that, his basketball skills were pathetic, he's like a 6'5" power foward who has no strength or leaping skills! what gives? i never understood why he was in the nba for so long

So...

Donnie is "patient" but he sure is showing us he can be a dealmaker...

in less than one season!

All 4 were pretty significant deals.

I mean not one of them was minor.

yo su, you gonna stop posting that pic of an old man asleep referring to Walsh now?

No doubt. Watching Rose pump fake 15 times in the paint only to get his shyt swatted into the second row with ease was always a sad ass sight.

Yeah, that Donnie is asleep stuff was ridiculous given the fact that there was still a full day left before the deadline.

Gotta love those patient ass New Yorkers.

I like these trades. We gave up only one player in the regular rotation and possibly gained two. My only concern would be why did we get Wilcox so cheap? He seems like a pretty decent player to get for nothing. Am I missing something here?

Donnie you got go for the trifecta and move Jeffries to Washington. Even if you have to give up our 2nd rder.

Id give up Harrington & Jeffries for Thomas, James & Haywood.

My prediction for the eventual rotation:

Starters:

Duhon
Hughes
Harrington
Lee
Wilcox

Bench:

Chandler
Jeffries
Nate
Gallo
[Q]
[Ewing]

To quote someone elsewhere who I agree with:

"Q is the new Malik."

for those concerned that adding these two players will be problematic, since when we did it with al and thomas we struggled, and that now gallo won't get a chance to develop:

we're trying to make the playoffs right now. gallo will get some burn...

but he is just not ready, yet.

hughes is a vet, as is wilcox, and contribute FAR more than what we moved out.

hughes is a pretty ideal player for integrating into the system as he likes to shoot from outside, as is wilcox since he is athletic and likes to run the floor.

we got al and fugazy involved after a short stint of struggle, but this time we haven't subtracted rotation guys/major starters (craw/z-bo) and supplanted them with others.

the rotation is the same, but added more depth.

we don't have to have them start or get heavy minutes ASAP, because of this fact.

this should make their adjustment much easier, actually.

These trades upgrade our defense. Hughes and Wilcox are both defensive players. My guess is that Wilcox will get minutes from Jeffries and TT. Hughes will get minutes from Q.

I like both trades. I would have preferred we got Washington involved and sent Jeffries and Wilcox there for Etan Thomas and Mike James. But hey, who knows, maybe we shoot for the playoffs. Otherwise the Wilcox trade doesnt make any sense. It's about creating a culture. Maybe Jeffries figures out another spot. Wilcox replaces Jeffries in the middle and Jeffries get Timmy Thomases minutes.

But who loses minutes? Dannillo or QRich? Because Chandler will get his, as will Harrington and Jeffries, because they still need to trade him. I say QRich. Sorry bro.
