I have to admit that even if I did not believe that Gallinari was a decent pick and believe he will be a fine player if healthy... in fact, even if I hated him for some reason, I would be rooting for him to recover and become a decent player just so I could see how some of you will deal with it. It will make for some interesting reading, given the fact that many have some rather strong hate for the guy. I will bet that some of you are actually hoping (secretly, of course) that he does flop, so that it verifies your rather childish views about playing with injuries, European players, and life in general.

I had a rotator cuff injury that I got while wrestling my heavyweight years ago. I was in some major pain but I decided not to go to the doctor at the time and gutted it out. A week later I thought I was better and I was working with a kid my size and I did a simple move which is puts your arm through the same motion as a hook shot, but with a guy draped over your arm. Big mistake. Put me in a painful situation for a number of months and I finally had an MRI which showed a partial tear. I could not even hold up my arm to put up notes in my classes (my students seemed to like this fact), and of course, I stopped doing anything physical in a wrestling room. Playing through the pain and not getting immediate medical treatment was idiotic on my part, but I was the tough guy and did not realize what I was putting my body through. I wish that I had thought things out a little more back then.

As some of the more rational, and less defiance posters have said, why not wait a few years before reaching a final conclusion about Gallinari. Why not hold back some of your harsh words, irrationality, and crazy conspiracies now, so that in 3 years, if the Rooster turns out to be a chicken, your renewed attacks on him will seem more fresh and original?

Just a thought.

If fans are saying we want the player on the court--we want him to succeed. This has been 7.5 years of excuses with the highest payroll every year. This was a risky pick when we had a potential 20-10 C drop unexpectedly and we needed one. I think the disappointment of this scenario with Gallinari has only angered some fans more. You only came around when Gallinari was picked--so I'm guessing you may be new to the scene and had a hand in picking Gallinari or know him personally--so you are touchy when people are critical as I have noticed. How about taking into account what has been going on here with the yearly incompetence embarrassment and failure of this team which the fans have had to endure? Right now Gallinari is a bust pick until proven otherwise when we are talking bottom line. I don't understand why he is taking so long to heal at 19 years old. This is a sign of mental and physical softness--traits we don't need. Showing some heart and playing through it--even just a little bit would atleast show a sign of toughness. You have to just go do it.

I am unwilling to reach a definitive conclusion on a guy who has not really stepped on the court for us. I also react to premature judgments made without any real understanding of the kid's injury. I have written enough about injuries other players have had, and as I mention above, my own situation a number of years back to know that you have to judge injuries case by case, and it is usually better to be cautious than rash.

I have to say that some of the statements I read on this site sound like they can be coming from the 17 and 18 year old kids I have to listen to in my school. None of us, including me, really know about Gallinari's injury, other than the little snippets of info the Knicks leak out, yet that does not stop some of you from making statements so far from reality that I have to laugh at the ignorance they are coming from.

Wait and watch. I have been a fan since 1967, so I have put up with things a lot longer than most of you guys. We have no control over this injury, what the Knicks have done in the past, or what they will do in the future. I like to read things which make me think, but a lot of the stuff relating to the pick of this kid comes from ignorance and foolish speculation, and when I see this I am compelled to comment.

And yes, I think some people want this pick to fail because they think it will validate their basketball fan IQ. If he turns out to be a stud, a lot of you are going to look foolish.

I prefer to wait, watch, and hope.

+1. That's the way you gotta look at this situation. Well said.

Paladin, i couldn't have said it any better... i salute u.

I could have, but I won't because I don't want to steal Paladin's thunder

I think some people just like to find ways to pisse themselves off. I don't know the facts behind a situation so instead of taking in all the possibilities and keeping an open mind. I will instead close my mind and think the worst. He's injured for life. He's soft. He's faking it. Anything to make myself angry. It's akin to how a racist approaches cultures he knows little about. He closes his mind and assumes the worst.
I just hope that people will like me

Well, what I got out of this thread is that anybody who isnt the least bit suspicious of Gallo's injury and status is ignorant and hasnt reached a grade school level education.

I wish we could go back and see who wanted who drafted this was the perfect fit for the Knicks

I wanted Brook Lopez and got brain damage from trying to convince some here. And then I went for Kosta Koufos and they took Gallinari instead.
I'll never trust this' team again.

32pts 6 ast tonight.

31pts 3 ast last night.

I'm not sure what the big deal is? He's averaging 11.9 points and 1.9 assist a game. Not real big numbers when you spread it all out.

The first month, he did not play all that much. Over the last 10 games he is average about 19 points a game. He still shoots at a low percentage, but even that is improving. Plus, Dunleavy says he is their best perimeter defender. The Clippers essentially took the guy we probably should have picked and are also starting Mardy Collins and Randolph (when he comes back) and all we have to show for it is Tim Thomas and a hurt DG. Walsh should have let IT handle the drafting. That was the one thing he was decent at. I know IT would not have picked DG.

You were right on Lopez I didnt like his game. I wanted EG and COurtney Lee somehow late and they both would have really helped this team.

If Walsh ****ed this up he really blew 2010 big time. Because as of right now I see two players worth keeping Lee/Chandler everyone else is expendable.

Lopez is an All Star center period, the kid is young rebounds, plays defense has energy and blocks shoots. Eric Gordon is looking like an offensive all-star out there, and even augustine is looking very solid.

I just hope Gallo brings something to the table, I love the versatility I saw briefly from the kid and he looks like he is a smart player that will give the effort every night, but Gordon/Lopez would have been huge. Probably could have had them both if they package Lee to another destination outside of Memphis.

i wouldn't have traded Lee for either of those guys on draft night... i still wouldn't trade Lee for Gordon right now if i could... Lopez i probably would, but that's hindsight... i agree w/u on Gallo... looks like he plays smart team style ball from what little we saw of him, i can't wait to see him play some extended minutes so we can get a fair gauge of his potential.

He's been excellent at getting to the foul line all year but I think as team's use size on him you will see more nights like tonight with his shooting and TO's

He has to work on his shot selection, but I agree, he does get to the foul line and he is supposedly a solid defender at the SG spot. It really depends on whether his game develops over the next 2 years or whether this is the best he is going to get. If he develops at a solid pace, he can be a solid starting SG (borderline all-star) in this league. We certainly could have used him. In fact, drafting him, resigning Lee, and trading Nate, probably would have been a much better plan. But hindsight is always 20/20. I am still willing to give DG a chance, but he has alot to prove.
