Super Heroes Come In Small Packages Too

PresIke - I just have this sinking feeling that Nate, still a work in progress, could make the Knicks regret letting him walk away.

Even Iron Man eventually changed his self-indulgent ways and got it right

His rates in D'Antoni offense as a starting PG would be a big improvement over what Duhon is giving us.

Anji - so whachoo sayin is that Steve Nash is decent or average?

Steve Nash was a backup Allstar that turned into a MVP canidadate in this system.

Duhon is a back up who looks decent.

One could also suggest, that Duhon has been a good influence on Nate, btw.

Compared to previous veteran guards.

"we talkin' bout practice..."

PresIke - true. It always helps to practice against a quailty opponent.

One thing is fo' sho', Nate may be a lot of things, but one thing is CERTAIN - he didn't reach the NBA at 5'6.5 without the ability to adapt and grow his game.

Who knows if he will ever stop learning from his exploration into the unknown?

Crazy?

Perhaps JW44. That is a good crazy.

Make no mistake about it, 33, 15 and 9 is a Lebron James stat line

djsu - the best stat is the one turnover. Is that a byproduct of the D'Antoni system or a crop circle left by aliens?

Numbers... Numbers...
The thing that separates average player in NBA from decent player is consistency.
Nate was consistent for one whole game. It's a progress.
How about a couple of games?

I agree. He's a 24 year old PG playing for the greatest coach for PGs.

I would rather get a great package for Lee than trade Nate.

I mean a guy that shoots almost 60% and gives you 16/13 as a starter should carry some juice at the deadline.

I love Lee but I want a shot at franchise talent

arkrud - you trippin'

expecting 33, 15 and 9 (with six steals on top) on a nightly basis is not consistency, that is expecting superstar/ Hall of Fame production.

Personally, I would be more thrilled than a bellhop working the host hotel for The Miss Universe Contest if Nate averaged 16 points, 10 assists, 3 turnovers (which is better than a two to one ration) and 3 steals.

How far away is he from that type of production? Really.

sheesh, where do I sign?

Hit the open man

Consistency? arkrud c'mon dude, Nate had 30 vs Golden State and 19 v Portland.

Season totals PPG 16.0 RPG 4.00 APG3.8 EFF+ 15.62

Shooting 44 percent fg and 82 pct free throws

5 more assists per game and I'm throwing Nate a freakin' parade down Seventh Avenue.

Think of it this way

Don't be distracted by the primal screams or the unbridled passion of yoot

If you were watching an energizer-type player on another team who averaged 16, 4, 3 assists, who made his free throws, was a pest on defense (steals) and had a Rolls Royce engine, would you be dreaming of ways to acquire him?

i'd love to keep nate as a third guard. i'd love to acquire a big shooting guard. i'm okay with duhon at the point but i'd also be okay with an upgrade at pg. i don't like nate as a starter. he's not a good enough floor leader on a consistent basis to start at pg and not big enough or consistent enough a shooter to start at sg. but a great major contributor off the bench in a 3-guard rotation coming in at either guard spot.

Bootleg post on Nate last night, courtesy "biz" on Escape from Elba:

"But we can agree he was phenomenal?

Can we agree further that he still has room to grow?

And where do we all stand on the most important questions: Can he be a rotation player on a championship team? How much is that worth to us?"

Don't Mess With Texas Or The Answer Man

Q. Andrew - Are those Nate's numbers in his rookie season?

A. Nope. Those are Danilo Gallinari's numbers in his fourth NBA season

Parting Shot

Then again Andrew, if you want to compare rookie stats, Nate's 9.3 pts (on 40 percent shooting) pgm, 2 rebounds, 2 assists don't suck that bad next to the numbers Gallinari has put up in his (unfair comparison?) abbreviated season

The thing you gotta love about Iron Man is that every season - he has improved

I got no problem with that
