EXAMPLE 2:

There is a neighborhood bully named Stephen Moonbury. A new bigger bully moves into the neighborhood and punches moonbury in the face.

All the other kids are happy that Stephen Moonbury got beat up for once.

But that doesn't mean it was right for the new, bigger bully to punch Stephen Moonbury in the face.

You know why? Because 2 wrongs don't make a right. I hope you understand that Blue.

The same thing is happenning to Antoine walker, why no outrage there? The same thing happened to Tim Thomas when traded to the bulls. Were you upset when isiah sent Penny home for no reason?

You want equal treatment for marbury. Fine. he is getting what other teams have done to players who are not in their plans. So my question that remains unanswered is.. Do you feel the grizzlies are mistreating Antoine walker?

[Edited by - tkf on 22-11-2008 4:48 PM]

If Marbury wins a championship, he has a chance to go to the Hall of Fame. Antoine Walker and Tim Thomas cannot.

Going to the Hall of Fame in any sport, involves actions taken off the court/field as well as on it. Marbury is the exact opposite to use as an example for good behavior and respect. And if he ends up on a championship team, the ring will be a garbage pick up.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Steph will go to the NYC Hall Of Shame... And will be greatest ever...
OK... May be second after Isiah Tomas

Stop patronizing me with this "I hope you understand that" crap. Every step of the way people have tried to discredit me as someone with a perverted fetish and a blind hate for everything Marbury, but you know quite well I've been dead on about him every step along the way. I've anything I've underestimated his toxicity. There is no vast right wing conspiracy out to get Marbury, he's simply managed his own existence in ways that alienate him form teammates, coaches and GMs. I would have thought that by now even you could understand that.

Yu can give up the line about D' or W being bullies or sherrifs. A better anology would be coordinators of Superfund cleanup sites. There job is to clean up the mess that is this franchise, and guys who want to pimp themselves as being above the coach, their teammates, and the franchise have to be addresses first. Marbury established himself as that many times over in his career, but most recently it was in training camp this year, when he stated outright he would not accept a bench role.

You're still trying to portray him as a victim. You're insinuating that what's happened to him this year has been so eggregiuos that a refusal to play (breech of contract, or at a minimum a fine able offense) should be expected. But nothing eggregious has occurred. Marbury simply shat on and soiled his clean slate on day one by refusing his role. Not only that, but such self serving behavior is hardly unique to this situation. This is the guy who tanked the game against Orlando in LB's era, and who split on the team last year when another coach gave him a bench role, and who chose surgery over the role for the remainder of the year.

Trying to blame Marbury's failings on D', W (or my favorite: my blind hate) is beyond wrong, it's bizarre. I hope you can understand that.

I will say this.

Maybe D'Antoni was thinking of reinserting Stephon Marbury into the system, and if that's the case, then our friend blew an enormous opportunity. This is business and sometimes the winds change direction. Perhaps Marbury could have even won himself the starting 2guard spot, in D'Antoni's eyes, so who's to say that he was only talking about LAST NIGHT when he said there's 35 minutes for you to take.

This was an enormously stupid move by Marbury. He could have done ALL of the following with one stone:

-Raise his value for his next contract.
-Redeem himself to his teammates.
-Redeem himself to the fans and NY.
-Earned himself a position in the rotation, and if not that, raise his value so he could be traded to a team with a position for him.
-Warm himself up to Donnie Walsh and Dolan, and have them change their minds about buying out his FULL contract so he can move on.
-Get a chance to actually PLAY and enjoy himself instead of being Scowlbury.

Marbury lost the opportunity. He just made himself look bad to the entire NBA and now his chances to get a new contract are MUCH slimmer.

And now Stephon Marbury is the one that looks like a soar loser. Not just a loser, but a sore loser. D'Antoni found that maybe he'll have the ability to play Marbury for the rest of the season and again, Marbury washed it away. This isn't f'ing around with Marbury. This is Marbury f'ing around with himself and the team and the city.

It's ashame that he's turned out like this. Could have been one of the top 5 players in the NBA for a long time, and he STILL has the talent. What a waste.

MDA was not thinking of reinstating him because as Marbury was told once again yesterday, he is not part of the team going forward...That is, if you want to believe what you are reading in the last article about this mess...

Blue, while Marbury may have done nothing in his career to garner any benefit of a doubt in this situation, you do have to admit that the handling of the situation by both MDA and Walsh leaves lots to be desired...My problem with MDA here is that it seems like he gave Marbruy an option to play the last game...Then was only happy to run to the press to say that Marbury didn't want to play...Now you can dump all you want on Marbs for his past misbehavior, but he isn't the one that needs to be ridiculed here...

D'Antoni certainly isn't the one that needs to be ridiculed. I'm very happy how he's been knocking #3 around. He's showing him who the boss is. Marbury never learned that and needs a good ass kicking. And like what Isiah and dolan did to Brown, you just ain't going to see Walsh and dolan do the same to D'Antoni. Donnie has D's back.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I agree, D' would be insane to try to integrate Marbury. But they still gave him a chance at something so as to benefit the team and fulfill on the contract that he wants every penny of, but he refused. In 4 years Marbury has crippled this franchise by putting himself above the team, and this season is no exception. One more coach has reduced his role and so Marbury has to try to bring the whole house down.

And something very important that all the Marbury groupies fail to see is 'D'Antoni doesn't treat anyone else like this. Only Marbury. Brown and Isiah went through the same thing with this guy. And didn't he also have troubles with past coaches on other teams?
I'll never trust this' team again.

I'm not talking about any article. I'm talking about what I believe is the case, based on my opinions and theories, just as what you're talking about.

And even if MDA was not thinking of reinstating Marbury, who cares?

Marbury did blow it BIG last night. Tonight we will not have any of the new guys here to play as they have to pass physicals first. So that leaves us with 7 players once again. And 7 tired players as they played a lot of minutes last night and traveled to get back to NY. So Marbury could have played 2 games and proven that he belonged on this team....or another team. After yesterday, I can't see them even asking him to suit up.

Fresh, did MDA "run to the press" or do league rules require that he address them? He told the truth, Marbury had the option to play and declined.

Marbury could take a buyout and be paid and playing, and the team could move on without his distraction, but he refuses. The disconnect between what is best for him and the franchise, vs the imbroglio he's chosen instead makes any other criticism secondary.

MDA gets spooked every time someone yells we want Steph or Marbury...He thinks its affront to him and he needs to respond...Thus, he outed Steph about the option he gave him about playing last night's game...That doesn't garner respect from me...

Everyone plays the game of it's not me, its him....MDA, Walsh, Isiah, Brown and Marbury are no different in that sense...Man I wish all the bullshet would end...

i'm sure it has been said, but it's simple. marbury is paid to play at the will of the knicks. if he refuses he's in violation of the contract. unless he's also refusing the checks the knicks are sending him. if that's the case, i suppose it's cool.

I think the contractual obligations go a bit deeper than Marbury being paid to play at the will of the team. The Knicks also have an obligation to allow him to be prepared to play. Once it has been communicated to a player that his services are no longer needed and he is not a part of the future of the team, I'm pretty sure that any two-bit lawyer could argue that that is a material change in the contract.

The fact that Marbury was not fined speaks volumes...The Knicks are trying to save money on Marbury's contract...why not fine him for refusing to play...He makes $267,000 per game..real savings there and another 267,000 tonight...WHY NOT FINE HIM?????...that's half a mil for 2 games...At this rate, they could save 3-4 mil in a few weeks...WHY NOT DO IT????...

Players who have guaranteed contracts I'm sure aren't given the choice if they want to play from night-to-night.

Once he was activated it was our coach's responsibility to let every player know they would receive minutes upon his discretion.

As he starts making his substitutions and Marbury's number is called, if he refused to come in then there lies the problem.

As told to us by our coach, Marbury really isn't to blame, because no player under contract should have liberty to decide how he wants to help or not help his team.

Simply put, our brain trust is having a very difficult time yet again handling this guy properly and it's embarrassing.

IMO I think coach calculated how Marbury would respond if he approached him in this manner and relished his response.

Coach doesn't want him as part of his team, so why would he be affected by Marbury's declining to play other than to let it be known what he said.

He knew it was only for a game or two and Marbury's on court contributions in now way would have adversely affected the team.

Those who feel he could have redeemed himself by playing didn't he do this in preseason?

Blue, those examples were great. You had to rewrite them with inaccuracies and add in all sorts of characterizations I did not make to even have a shot at a point.

I don't care for Marbury, but I can be objective. You cannot be objective when it comes to Marbury. I don't know if it is a personal thing you have with him, or if it is just the need to be right.

I'm done trying to argue with hate. You hate Marbury. You hate him when he is right, wrong, or indifferent. Nothing he can do or can be done to him can change that. He can't be right to you. He is always wrong even when he gives you the time on his watch. No point in arguing with that.

First of all, I am not outraged at anything. I am making an observation which I believe is objective and not tainted by my dislike for Marbury's well documented poor behavior. My main concern is the Knicks winning, and I think this Marbury situation is a distraction that could have and can be easily be avoided if handled tactfully, which it has not.

Second, I am not intimately familiar with the Walker situation as you apparently are.

Third, as far as I know, Walker was benched and he knew about it and was not led to believe any differently or jerked around in any way. But you tell me, as you seem to be much more familiar with the day-to-day news of the Grizzlies than I.

Fourth, I am sure Walker is unhappy with the situation, but as some other posters have shown you above, he seems to be handling it well publicly.

Does that answer your question(s) satisfactorily?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!
