I was hoping to keep Zach honestly out of the 3 Jamal Curry and Zach I think hes the best player... I wish it was Curry gettin the boot

there was never any cap room if they didn't trade Zach.

is that true? What if we traded Jamal + Curry and didn't resign Lee... then we could have cap room

come on, man. zach is a midget power forward who plays little defense, can't jump at age 26 because of knee injuries and shoots 43% from the floor. i like his hustle and heart, but he is not a guy any sane team makes a long-term commitment to.

this is about getting back in the game for real and having a truly competitive team. it's just gonna take a while and it'd be a little easier to swallow if Gallinari wasn't looking so much like Jonathan Bender 2.

would really be nice to dump contracts, I get it.....but it would also cushion to blow (of adding career losers like TT, Cat etc.) if we got some (even one) decent young prospect like Gordon, Bellinelli

In these blockbuster deals, minor players and picks are often left out of the intial leak.

I.e. in Isiah's deals, we often ended up giving up picks we had no idea about at the very end.
Yes....but hopefully we are the ones getting a pick. We are giving up more talent than we are getting. I think a pick is in order for us to receive.

I like this trade simply because we clear cap room and we get a high draft pick next year(if we start losing which is likely to happen with this trade THIS SEASON)...... D'Antoni will make this team entertaining anyways because of the system he plays. For the record I hate Tim Thomas and Mobley....but I look at this trade Crawford + Randolph for Lebron James.

Just keeping it real

arkrud - can you please define what a "real" Knicks fan is?

Real Knicks fans as opposed to imitation, counterfeit, knockoff or bootleg Knicks fans?

help me out here

My definition for REAL fan is - a fan that wants to see successful organization with culture of winning and sense of entitlement; as oppose to fans who want to see highlights, drama, and kaleidoscope of half-ass stars moving along.

why would it? Harrington likes his shots and this is the offense he can get them in. Knicks lead the NBA in scoring right now. Plus we have a PG that doesn look for offense, and if Zach and Crawford go thats about 40 shots a game... plenty to go around. I dont think they are bad guys.

Well if this big three-way deal is true, you gotta do it if you're the Knicks. Would love to get Belinelli back also but either way, you do the deal if you're the Knicks. 2010 FA now becomes a realistic topic.

If this goes down, what kind of impact would re-signing Lee and Nate have? Anyone crunch the numbers yet?

This sounds like it has prime time press conference written all over it. Nice move if we can dump Randolf and Crawford's contracts and we get back some expirings and a draft pick or two too sweeten the deal. There's still over two months until the trading deadline and this is a good sign that we are in a transition year and more could be done by the deadline. Definitely a great start to building a great team. After watching the LA/Phoenix game last night it was clear that we aren't even close to competing on that level with this roster.

We have to be getting draft picks and/or prospects since we are giving up way too much talent in the trade and usually the teams that do that get nice future pieces. If that is the case, and I hope it is, this is a heck of a trade.

I agree with that. But without it, I suppose it helps long term but without either, this season is rendered completely unwatchable. my preference is for some prospects so they can (hopefully) develop.

I think D'antoni...with any decent amount of talent....is too good of a coach to allow is to approach a bottom 5 record.

In some ways a tank job trade is kind of nice because I won't need to spend any more time on the team this season AND THE KNICKS COULD GET BLAKE GRIFFIN!!! This guy is an absolute monster. The best part of him is his attitude, where he gives 110% no matter the situation. if the Knicks can locate a quality point, they could recreate Nash/Amare, starting with drafting Griffin. What a beast that kid is.

We don't need to be that bad. A 30-something, playoffs-less season should do it. Look at the teams that have won the lottery the last couple of years?

And as Briggs said, man, we are due for a top pick!
