Z-Bo has actually been playing D!
I saw him pass the ball a few times instead of forcing a shot.

Randolph actually looks like he might be buying in. Breen just said on the play after he scored on that post move, where he got the ball in the post and kicked it out to Duhon who missed a long 3, that last year Zach would have just moved around and then shot it. Now he's kicking it out.

If Zach can actually be a team player that would be really key. You can see how for a team that likes to run, one of the keys is to have some kind of post option at the end of games. He could prove valuable there, as he did on that very nice set of post moves he used to score and keep the game close.

You're not being facetious, are you? They have played well tonight, and that isn't exactly bad news, no?

4949,cmon man, I think things are looking up as well, but let's be real, this is the 1st preseason game. Predictions don't start to come true after 1 PRE-SEASON game.

I'm not talking about games exactly. I'm talking about 'the system'. There are very strong signs that we are looking at what it's gonna be like in the regular season. Once these guys are shown that they can play this system and win, they are going to become more committed to the coach. It's all good dude. You'll see.
I'll never trust this' team again.

whoa - I just looked at NBA.com and saw where the Knicks were up by one. I toggled out and back and now they're down by down by 7. What happened?

Looks OK so far. Still need to do something about the turnovers and the contested threes.

My bad, 4949, I am pretty much in agreement. We lost, but we saw some things that we want to see. We need to hit our jumpers, and the PGs need to cut down on the TO's.

Duhon is supposed to be good at keeping TO's to a minimum, so I won't get too carried away just yet. He had to deal with Hinrich so he's had to compete before, but one wonders if he expected Marbury to be gone when he signd, and if it is a distraction. You also wonder if the Knicks may have promised him the starting roll, and expected Steph to jet, but he hasn't.

I won't read into anything too much, good, nor bad, but I feel more hope than I have before just based on what I've seen, overall.

I think we did a better job contesting 3s on defense, in general. That last one that was uncontested was because Duhon fell down. The defense was better, and supposedly D'Antoni doesn't care about that.

What I heard Breen say was the #1 thing D'Antoni wanted to see from game 1 was "intensity."

Whenever you have intensity, it is bound to also affect the other side, even if the general focus seems to be the offensive end of the court.

I saw it. It wasn't perfect, but for the 1st game I'm okay with it. I want to see more, but it's a start.

It's just the beginning. We've got a LOOOOOOONG way to go, but I like that the team seems to be taking to this. If we can just get a bit more 3pt shootingthis year, this will work on many nights.

1) the players seem generally happy and not going through the motions.
2) they appear to buying into D'Antoni's gameplan.
3) D'Antoni looks like he is building relationships.
4) Fast pace. That game when by quick.
5) Younger players look good.

Neg
1) 1st unit backcourt looked horrible.
2) Too many turnovers.
3) Interior defense still horrible.
4) Overrall defense was bad but there was effort.
5) Don't see a set rotation at all.
6) Injuries still plague this team.

Walsh go get Thabeet.

Jose Calderon has improved exponentially from a few years ago, he looks awesome.

in his rookie season, i told a friend of mine that this guy reminded me of steve nash light.

but keep an eye on ukic. he will be the truth as the backup soon enough. he's the real deal. he had sore ribs so he didn't play alot tonight and has to learn the nba but within 2 years, he will be very solid. right now, solomon sucks so they will feel it when calderon is not in the game. but once ukic comes around (may take a year), they won't miss a beat.

o'neal still getting back in shape and getting his legs underneath him but you can already see they are trying to mimic duncan/robinson. IF o'neal can stay healthy, and they can work the kinks out, they will be dominant. and bargs is now more of a center that will attack. so i think the raps will be ok this season.

all knicks stats will be up b/c of the tempo. they have no shooters whatsoever. nate will be the best guard on this team. jamal has to adjust w/o the ball in his hands. he looked very passive and not in any sort of rhythm. lee + zach will average 25 boards a game between them but they are just a terrible shooting team. duhon is a scrub.

su, that's my big beef with Jamal. He seems to be just not as good without the ball. He hasn't shown himself to be a good spot up shooter, which you would think he should be good at. I like him using a mid-range game, but I am not sold on him as anything other than a spark off the bench. He's got talent, and seems like a smart guy, but it somehow doesn't all come together on the court.

Can't disagree with a thing you said Pharz.. even the Thabeet thought, he'd fit so well into this system.

Duhan was pretty bad, especially early on.

Nate is great.

Lee is amazing, simply love him.

Steph looked pretty good.

WTF is up with Jamal? I Don't know if I like our starting 5. I think u have to swap either Nate for Duhan or Chandler for Q Rich. Prolly the latter.

Also, When Bosh was in, we were getting destroyed. Bosh was a maniac. If he would have played normal minutes we would have gotten blown out.

Yes we lost dudes! But let me show you something far, far more important here.

The Knicks pulled down '50' rebounds!
They had an incredible '29' assists!
7 guys scored in double digits!
They had '8' steals!
They hit '25' free throws (which tells you how much more aggressive they are now)!
And they only lost by 2

AND WHY?

Because they had 20 turnovers and they were 8 for 34 at the 3-pt. line!

They need to find their ranges (and they will find them)

And as they run, they will learn to dribble better as time goes by, resulting in fewer and fewer TO's.

Don't despair! It was a good game. The first game, but still a lot of signs of what's to come.

The most important thing is 'the numbers are there'. They need to work the weaknesses out. D'Antoni will teach them how. I'm excited about these numbers.
I'll never trust this' team again.

marbury is castrated. if they are going to use him like this then they should cut him and eliminate the distraction. nate is the best shooter on the team, attacks, rebounds and goes for it. he's mini-wade and imho, the only thing that will keep him from contention of 6th man of the year is if he's inserted into the starting lineup.
